Nice link… I would of like some records also but $$ being a factor is the reason I opted for the Pistas though now noticing everyone is running Evo’s
A lot of people still run them at dunc Frank (including the NSWIS team). They are still a good tyre. Between the track and the car park the gutters are the 45 degree angled ones. Just ride along them with your drivetrain facing the footpath to rough the tyres up a little before you go on the track and you’ll be fine.
There you go Frank. I think you’ll be fine. FWIW, I’ve ridden a brand new un-scuffed Pista EVO CS on an indoor board track without a worry (although it wasn’t Dunc Gray).
Take Rhys’s cautious advice and you’ll be a-ok.
Cheers folks… good idea I never thought about using the kerb to scuff them up… done and done…
I used the pista evo cs for most of RAW and all of summer and they have been good
IMO track tyres like the pista (and evo) cs don’t need to be roughed up, there’s a whole bunch of little nipply things which tend to whole dirt. Just give them a good wipe down before riding and if they’re new wipe them down with alcohol or a white spirit.
Currently on challenge pista’s and they’re great. I’ve run both the evo and the cs in the past.
Made an error in buying and snagged the non evo pistas… Hopefully they’ll do me well
Duly noted… makes sense also. May do a combo of all the above. Probably overkill but worth it for peace of mind
Should have put this in the original post, but what pressure is everyone pumping (for DGV) or similar?
What ever you run on smooth road plus a bit. Feels squirmy? Add more air.
Don’t stress it.
I run 160 cause thats what my goes too also as far as white spirits go I’d recommend metho over turps as turps leaves a residue. I don’t base this on board/ tyre knowledge but rather sign writing and we always clean with metho over turps for this reason
the 220 tpi version? i used them on my old wheels no worries.
For track I would run 160 plus. Whatever your pump can get to. Your tyre should feel like you’re pinching on the top tube. If you get squirmy then ride the rollers til your stroke is smoother.
