Boring Confessions

Read this eating my 2nd/3rd Short Stop donut for today

Are short stop doughnuts $4+ in Melbourne like they are in Sydney?

Yes. $5. Maybe the cinnamon/cardamom one is $4.50. Same prices as Donut Shop FWIW

A classic that never disappoints

yes, but they are also a lot better (in many ways) than doughnut time who seem to think that a starting price of $6 is OK.

I agree that Short Stop is hugely better than Donut Time.

Can you just rock up and get a Short Stop donut or multiples, because their website is confusing, with pre-orders and stuff?

yes

They used to sell out pretty quickly in the day but you should be fine up until closing time now. A few options are often sold out by mid-arvo though.

are you guys talking $4-5 for a single, regular sized donut?

Yes they are. Dining out in Australia sucks.

I’ve been gone long enough to not remember the price of things (6 years yesterday!).

I’m sure there are expensive donuts here but gee-wiz.

Yeah, this is why I was asking about the Melbourne prices. Sitting down for 3 doughnuts and a coffee would put me in mortgage arrears.

BC: if I feel like a doughnut I go to the Coles deli counter in Wynyard, they have iced “yeast ring” style jobbers for $1.45. They’re better than Doughnut Time but not as good as Short Stop.

Who eats three doughnuts in a sitting?

Pretty sure Pete had three the other day. Maybe not in one sitting.

I’ve discussed with my kids that for the $6.50 they want to spend at doughnut time you could get 12 cinnamon doughnuts and a jar of Nutella from Woolies.

^ Well done, dad.

Agreed.

coming back from europe prices in australia makes me wanna cry. effed.

I love how the avo and toast meme has gone international
