Clamp on brakes...

this. skidz 4 dayz.

Basically they clamp on to the seat stays.

apologies for the omission.

lightning response as always lyndon, thank you sir.

now draw me a picture of how the fucker clamps on!

Dude. search for: clamp on rear brake, there’s three examples on the first page of hits.

you are correct. strange, i could’ve sworn that’s what i searched for initially, with no decent results.

thanks!

I searched “clamp on rear brake keirin” and a few results came up too.

Such an inelegant work around

Another angle…

think i might just drill the fucker.

unless teamballerina has one to offload and can recommend it… but by the sound of it she never used it!

^ I’ve got a cordless power drill and a few slightly used drill bits if you want to swing round. How hard can it be?

pay someone to do the drilling, or find someone with a floor standing drill press. i had a ‘practice’ on a frame which didn’t turn out so well.

haha yeah, i’ll not be doing the drilling. i’m useless at shit like that.

Ah Rolly…

Bit ugly looking, and will defs fuck paint.

Peter Bundy drilled my rear bridge on my Paconi for $10, looks nice and neat. He said using a clamp on it needs to be metal on paint clamping, anything like tape or rubber in between and it’ll wear and become loose.

P.S. that was on like the first page of a google search for images “clamp on rear brake” LoL!

awesome, thanks ev

edit - i know i know. i think i must’ve had dia-compe in my original search, as that didn’t yield many results…

I toyed with the idea of drilling mine myself…I am a builder, many sharp drills, drill press etc but fuck that.

Let a frame builder go for it. Or someone you REALLY have faith in!

A jig of some sort would be needed so you get it straight.

Commuter cycles embiggened the brake hole on a fork of mine so I could put on modern recessed brakes. . .

Yeah, I’d let Commuter stick it in a) their frame jig b) their drill press. Plus, if the bridge is insufficient for drilling (unlikely, but) they’ll tell you, and then braze one in that’s ok.

Ahhhh! Don’t drill it!!

I’ve got one set up from my old work bike you can ‘borrow’

They work good I had mine mounted under the seat stays
