no comments or exclamations of joy about royal parade being open today?!

it opened days ago mate, get with it.
Then they threw down some steel plates again out front of the hospital as a gotchya for the trip home.

Seriously though - totally a joy to be able to ride through Royal Pde (city bound)!!
They delivered on time too (mid November)!!!
Nice smooth surface to mash and/or skid on (not that Iā€™d ever skid or ride fixed)!!!

today/days ago, whatever, my question remains.

Iā€™ve exclaimed!
Iā€™ve posted in SJ!!
Youā€™re dead right Rolly, it is ace and should be recognized. Delivered on time as promised. Itā€™s nice.

huzzahhhhhhh

ps - the commuter cup makes me laugh every time i have to participate. fuck ppl do some dumb shit.

just be thankful theyā€™re on bikes and not driving a car.

i was happy, then they closed it again.
And a crew from breaking bad were out there again this morning with a last minute diversion that was confusing more peopleā€¦

but that new surface is pretty aceā€¦

and yes on timeā€¦ unlike fleming park in BWK which seems to have a loose definition of the 20th November and super poor signage about the path closure. <shrugs>

Vale Time:
"The expanded time Valve uses when talking about anything that will involve them working. Like a new york minute, but in reverse. See Valve week and Valve month.

The conversion factor is approximately 2-6 times whatever the stated interval is."

Like Nik says - 20th November, 42nd Nov Actual (12th Dec)

such a great ride this morning. after wasting some time changing my seatpost. then some more getting the saddle setup. i put on one of my finest sleeveless black tshirts. coated in water from the rain/mist sheet as soon as i left home. warm and wet, a perfect state of being.

then.

riding past QVM, no donut truck which was a nice surprise, and the relatively fresh smooth road. i get stuck behind someoneā€¦and ofc they didnā€™t have a mudguard. that fresh wet road, water mixing with the bitumen, being spat off the rear wheel. i ended up looking like a dalmatian, black spots all over my face, arms and legs.

This isnā€™t in Melbourne, but we have been talking about obikes and what not:

Pictures are amazing.

So whoā€™s riding home tonight?

Me!

Gotta go get Maaike from daycare around 5, so weā€™ll see what happens then.

To be fair Iā€™m a bit meh at the overhyped nature of this ā€œweather eventā€ Hasnā€™t even come close to a standard Brisbane arvo summer rain yet.

Brissy infrastructure might be set up a bit better for rain than Melbs! Itā€™s already flooding in a bunch of streets in Coburg and the Hurstbridge trainline is down beyond Westgarthā€¦

Radar looks ok for the next couple of hours though so hopefully the floodwater clears.

Iā€™m looking forward to it, I wish I hadnā€™t put off making my mudguard extensions though

Wouldnā€™t be the first time a predicted Melbourne apocalypse has fizzed. Still, there saying tomorrowā€™s the day, so donā€™t pack your canoe away just yet.

Yeah it cracks me up, we regularly drove our school bus through 1m of water for a km or 2,
I remember one week at work we had something like 450mm in 2 Days.
Problem down here is itā€™s dead flat and every drain is full of leaves.

BOM had their moment in the sun at least

I see what you did there

If they got one of these cataclysmic forecasts right, that would be a once in a hundred years event in itself!
