Private developments in National Parks…

National parks to be opened up for development | Kim Wells

Fucking really?

Why do people reel off and flush away half a roll of dunny paper before they even start?

Anti-Splashback technology.

Have you even read what this thread is about?

Observations whilst getting changed at work to ride home.

two words for today: cherry blossoms.

ROD

Also, has anyone else noticed someone has finished the bike lanes with spray-paint

i think that’s in preparation for actual white lines to be put down…and yes, have noticed.

Desal water coming to a tap near you

23.9 billion dollars… Jesus

Do peeps remember the beginning of the Hells Bells Alleycat and the wheel started creaking, and the next day it turned out the thing cracked while we were all beneath it.

crazy times.

I remember joking with somebody at the time that it sounded like it was going to roll into the city.

that was ages ago.

At least that thing is being built with private money…

xbbx told me that exact story a few days ago (at least i think it was brenno…)!!

it had just closed when i moved to melbourne on feb 20, 2009. said it’d be back in operation in 12 months.

It was a really fucking hot day. A lot of the traffic lights were out. Never forget it. good times.

Brumby’s Baby, I remember hearing when he was minister in charge of this that originally it was going to be half paid for by the private sector, RED flags anyone… we pay massive now for construction, then get smacked down line with rises.
Once again the general public look through green tinted glasses and dream,

Bring on Clean Coal.???

yeah, it was like 40 degrees, then plummeted to about 28 within the space of an hour. that’s always gonna be interesting for a poorly constructed steel structure.

i didn’t race that alleycat (wrong side of the clipboard again), but fuck it seemed like fun. total chaos in the city - lights out, cops everywhere.

Most of the shit public infrastructure initiatives of recent times were Labour under Brumby/Bracks. Desal, Myki, North/South pipeline, that slow train to Ballarat…

Bailleau has inherited the legacy of that, but not to be outdone, he’s presided over divestment in education through Tafe cuts, broken election promises about teachers salaries, reduced state cycling infrastructure budget to zero. His anti-corruption watchdog was investigated by the police for having rigged tenders. Worst of all, he referred to Cadel Evans as having brought home the yellow “guernsey”.

₪₪₪₪s of the highest order.

was it the same heatwave that caused black saturday etc? coz there was still smoke everywhere when i flew into melbourne on the 20th.

Yep. Black Saturday was the following Saturday. the whole state was on fire that Summer. Red skies. It was like the end of days.

it was. i remember binning it on tram tracks on my way home and turning up to the race with blood coming down my knee barely feeling it thanks to the heat.

the first 20mins or so heading through town with all the lights out and the resulting city chaos were amazing. beers sure tasted good after that one.

thanks of course go to little creatures brewery, for kicking in three crates for the afterparty.
