i dont even see what the problem is, even if they do make money out of it.
Although I wont be buying a copy of their film, if there is one, I don’t have a problem with other people doing so and them profiting from that. what’s the big deal?
at the end of the day, if anything, it may encourage people to go out and ride their bikes more or spur them into trying some longer distance riding.
going to have to disagree… i havent seen any of the same names in the syd-mel rider list. IIRC there wasnt a single continental euro on the london-to-paris ride (i could check but it was japan/US/england - there might have been one frenchy).
and if it was nike you’d know about it… via blogs or promo.
id suggest it might be more ‘inspired’ by a lot of other fixed distance rides that have been happening (filmed, photo’d or not)
I don’t think they did… I mean they probably have covered production costs etc, but I doubt they’d be rolling around in cash.
Anyway, my 2¢… This (and London To Paris and Tokyo To Osaka) have inspired me to try and do more long distance rides on my fixed. I only own track bikes, (and I’m not allowed to buy a geared bike…yet), I don’t ride more than 40-odd k’s in one go, but I’ve been thinking about trying to more long distance rides, and seeing these films / photos / whatever inspires me even more.
To quote Rodan / Yossarian after the London To Paris screening on Tuesday night.
So… who wants to go on a road trip?
It’s just like MASH SF and Macaframa makes me want to go out and do skids in traffic.
Oh, and I think one of the dudes from LTP is doing this ride, but that’s it.
Dude, I grew up watching Bones Brigade, 411VM etc, those films made me want to skate more, learn new tricks and just because I’m 30 doesn’t mean I can’t see a film (well more so a documentry) and have it inspire me.
It’s the same way listening to a record will make me want to pick up my bass again.
