foot wear/gear Thread

Can’t be fucked looking if this has been posted but looks like Adidas is getting in on the fad.

i like those sambas, but the high part at the back looks uncomfortable

Mavic Alpine’s: the most comfortable cycling (and general) shoe I’ve had. they are a little more flexible than a lot of shoes, as the sole is not as thick, but as long as you’re not racing on the road they’ve worked perfectly for everything I’ve needed. Most MTB oriented shoes are still quite stiff and feel like you’re in hiking boots or something, these just feel like a comfortable pair of trainers.

These used to be the Adidas branded MTB shoes, but now they’re made under the Mavic name by the same manufacturer(Salomon from memory).

For most riding I use whatever Asics are around cheap. But I will be getting both pairs of my Adidas E.M. Comp resoled. The E.M. stands for Eddy Merckx and these were originally offered in the late 90’s as a street shoe copy of the cycling shoes Eddy used back in the day. Perforated leather and both the tongue and the sole have a little cyclist logo. I have the black (white stripes) and the white (black stripes) but they later came in a variety of colours somewhere in the early 2000’s. Europe is your best bet to source these now.

Style wise they’re very cool but the soles are a bit soft which is why I’m getting mine resoled (anybody recommend an old Italian shoe guy in Sydney ??). I’m a sucker for style :sunglasses: (read: shoe wanker)

And I’m thinking it’s time for me to retire my Detto Pietro’s and keep them for special occasions. Never had pedals with SPD style cleats but might give them a shot after seeing these Marresi shoes that are offered through Dromarti. Expensive but I think they’ll suit my inner pimp !!! :-o :smiley: :sunglasses: :lol: :mrgreen:

That’s a Sidi sole with a pimped upper isn’t it?

alex shoe repair, 44 renny st paddington. old italian guy, i think he’s had the same little shop for 50 years. fixed some broken shoes for me and did a v. nice job.

cool. thanks for the recommend :wink:

pretty much. theres a couple of guys down here that have them (and i believe love them).

they are apparently VERY stiff… and if you ignore the slightly odd gait from walking in cleats do look way more stylish than normal mtb shoes.

Clipless = Sidis
Clips and straps = whatever’s on special at the local skate/surf shop
