Handlebar ID

Nah, I had them. Completely different. They’re flat and have a curve (or an arc if you will), not like the bars pictured.

I know a lot of the variations on the town bike / priest bar vibe, have bloody researched them enough! Thought the ones I posted today were a new type, but obviously not.

FWIW, the bars I have seen that are a similar style are:
• Cinelli Priest / Pope 26.4mm clamp, 460mm wide

• MAP / Ahearne 1" rise, 25.4mm clamp, 600mm wide, $50 silver/black

rear is MAP/Ahearne, front is Nitto

• Velo Orange Milan, 25mm rise, 25.4mm clamp, 570mm wide, 11cm reach, 35º sweep $25

• 3ttt Valencia Danese 25.8mm clamp, 570mm wide, $99

• “Sushi” bars / Gullwing bars (Abbotsford Cycles) 25.4 $25

• On-One Mary 25.4/31.8mm clamp, 37mm rise, 645mm wide, $50 (Also see On One Fleegle, but much wider)

• Nitto “Jitensha” B2522 26.0 clamp, almost no rise, 580mm wide $50

• Nitto “Jitensha” lightweight B206SL 25.4mm clamp 525mm wide $65

• ITM (name not known)

• Cinelli Valencia 31.8 clamp, 25mm rise, 560mm wide, 24mm grip $50

Anyone else feel free to chime in…

Blakey edit: Filled in some gaps for you.

From your vast knowledge sounds like you should be answering questions about priest bars, not asking questions lol…

Dimension arc bar? A little rise, a little kink?

I wonder what they look like from the top?

Dont know but stumbled over htese while looking for a top view:

Kalloy Allrounder

These look really good and would be my preference for a mid price bar.
Might have to get a set to compare and contrast.
The Sushi bars are very similar to many chromed steel bars I’ve seen for cheap at LBS around town but much lighter.

What levers are people running?
I don’t mind the Shimano levers Blakey has but I wanted something more chromey.

These look good but I’m not sure they can be purchased in all silver like the pic.

Also have a set of these but they feel a bit flimsy/sloppy:

Be very careful ordering the Tektro ‘city bar’ levers, the ones from the Aussie distro are for V brakes only (Source: Commuter Cycles), silver lever, black clamp. There is an Oz ebay seller that states canti/caliper ones, but buyer beware, title says FL-750 but description says RL-720 (cut & paste typo?). Officially the FL-750 is canti/caliper, don’t know the code for linear pull. The ones you show are also FL-750.

The Shimano BL-R550 levers on my GT Force are a kind of gunmetal blue - silver, but all the R550s on ebay/webshops now look regular silver. They are an excellent lever, very well made. Not too pricy.

Don’t bother with stamped / die cast pot metal levers.

Nice work Blakey!

Was going to fill in the gaps, but I’m on my phone.

Not sure who the folks at Commuter have been talking to but the Australia distributors website has the correct information.

Adventure Brands (Aust)

The Tektro site doesn’t make mention of a linear/v-brake version of the lever, but then their site is a bit average.
And they do an enormous amount of OEM so it’s hard to know.

These sound like the CL740 on the Tektro site. Look similar but clear say they are linear pull and they have a barrel adjuster.
The RL720 levers are shipped on a lot of single speeds.

Totally gone off the stamped type levers, even though they are Diacompe they are still rubbish.

I am loving this thread.

My old cross frame is just sittin’ and I am thinking of building it up into a short range gravel grinder/tourer/commuter/everything bike.

I was wondering how well suited this style of bar is suited to this application?

Also, I don’t really want to do down tube shifters as it will be a 9 or 10 spd setup. So, thumbies or bar end?

Another alternative is Nitto Moustache bars with bar end shifters and road levers. I run that on my Shogun. Takes some dialling in, but can be good.

Some people swear by this set up. The Bridgestone XO-1 came stock with this and it is pretty much made for what you want to do…

http://www.eandsweb.com/cgi-bin/bikes.cgi?bike=BridgestoneXO-1

whoever supplies them is shipping linear pull ones, they’re very keen to stock the all silver canti version.

Gullwing bars work a treat for a certain cannonball run founder, on and off road. But bar the modern Cinellis, they’re all 22.2, so you’ll have to use thumbies or mtb shifters.

These bars on my wife’s bike are pretty nice,
Steel but they have a good rise and swept back and sit you up like a lounge.

I vote for a FOA Fundraiser to get JLN those Cinelli Priest bars and put an end to this saga.

I second this.

And again the LBS is let down by douche bag importers/wholesales that don’t know their arse from their elbow.
At least Abbottsford got onto something good with the Sushi bars.

Pair of BL550 in silver have been ordered on Blakey’s recommendation. Sure the missus will be happy with them
and much cheaper than a pair of Pauls - which she’d probably hate because they are ‘too square’.

So bar ends are no good for the majority of bars a page back?

Priests fit bar ends…

bar ends fit 23.8mm OD bars, i.e. Road bars. 22.2mm OD bars won’t work. You might find that the VO Milan bars come in both. Then however you have issues finding levers that fit…
