i’m HAHAHAH and my identity is a freakin secret, but if you see a guy on a maroon hillman, holla at ya boy and throw up your gang signs.
Hello, my name is Z. I grew up in Adelaide and was there for about 15 years until I relocated to Perth at the start of 09 for work. I regret not getting into riding while I was there. I run 70 gi, which is contrary to the popular belief that everyone here rides track ratios on the street. If I take my bike back for a weekend in the last week of November can we arrange a night ride?
sorry! wrong thread!
Hey, name is Michael, been riding for a few years. I get around on an all black leader 735, or a wilier roadie.
Give me a yell! Peace.
Mate this is the Adelaide not Broken Hill thread.
Hate
Evening, I’m Dan, ride around on a blue Lenny Roger fixed. I can be seen in town, Henley, in the hills. Been riding bicycles for years. If anyone’s up for a cycle give us a yell.
I’m in the process of moving here permanently - I’ve been toing and froing for the last year. We’re about to move into a house near Macgill Road… and I work near the railway station. What’s the best way into town? I road along Macgill into North Terrace and even on a public holiday I found the buses and cars pretty annoying once I crossed Fullarton. Is there a better way?
Beulah Road, all the way down to Fullarton Road, keep going straight down Rundle St / Rd / St… but then you’ll have to do North Terrace for a bit.
Cheers, thanks for the suggestion. I tried riding on the footpath on North Terrace but I found that just as bad. For the last year we’ve had a place near Burnside shops and it’s been great just cruising down Greenhill and into the parklands, South Terrace and then turning up either Hutt St or King William. In theory we’re now closer to my work but the road seems a lot shitter!
Yeah, Magill is horrible.
Beulah is a bit better, but watch out at all the roundabouts.
Just stay in the bus lane on North Tce and hold your line. You should be fine.
too easy.
non-cycling note, are there any futsal comps in the eastern suburbs? that are fairly social? I’d like to get back into playing but I know no one in Adelaide.
My lad plays - there are comps at Blackwood, Flinders Uni and Aberfoyle Park that are all pretty social. Campbelltown has a serious comp but it’s a big organisation there so it wouldn’t surprise me if there is a social comp as well. We live down south so that explains the spread of comps I know about, I’m quite sure there are others.
I used to play out at Unley High School (Life Be In It I think it is called). I have also played at Flinders Uni as Europa mentioned and also Marion near Warradale Barracks.
There are plenty of places about just get a bunch of guys together and have a crack.
EDIT: just saw that you live on Magill Road - try Stepney ICA just behind the Maid of Auckland or whatever that pub is called at the intersection of Magill, Payneham, Fullerton and North Tce.
Hi guys, I got referred to this site by a certain polo-playing, typically intoxicated guy with weird facial hair.
I’m Stu, I’m a recent convert to cycling. A few months back I bought myself a very entry-level SE Draftlite single speed almost on a whim. Just to try it out. Having not straddled a bike in 10 years or so, the first few rides were perilous, but in just under 3 months I’m now able to cover 50km in a few hours quite comfortably, at a relaxed pace.
It’s a white frame, and since I’ve owned it has gained alloy bullhorn bars with brown Charge tape, Tektro carbon levers, Lezyne front and rear lights, Reid Cycles white deep-V rims, Vittoria Zaffiro tyres, brown nubuck Selle San Marco saddle, Ritchey post, Lasco 44t chainring and a few decent scratches from where I discovered the disadvantage of buying a low-quality roof-rack.
I live in the hills, so the bike lives in the back of my car typically. I drive down to the plains and ride from the eastern suburbs, and can usually be seen in the city, or around the Norwood/Dulwich area.
You must really be keen to post at 3:15am!
Lol, yeah, a little bit of keen, a little bit of nocturnal.
You described 90% of polo players.
Well it was Squid. Wasn’t sure of his username on here!
Here I’ve been riding Magill almost twice a day for this year so far when Uni is on, I didn’t even know about Beulah… Just tried today; feels infinitely better. Though not as big a fan of all the cars parked on the side, feel like every one is about to door me. Top twisty bit is fun too.
But ehhh I feel like north tce is a bit better than rundle during peak hour.
Anyways I’m not even fixed (or even SS) yet. Bought a 60’s nervex lugged road frame and haven’t had the money to spend building it up yet, too much of my time/money is being poured onto restoring a datsun Z. So just on a boring alu roadie with flats for now.
