The last Defender to roll off the production line. [29 January 2016]
Fun Fact - One of the original engineers to work on the Land Rover Series actually lives in Brisbane. In his 90’s and still works everyday at a 4wd place on the northside. They can’t keep him out the place, just loves work & keeps turning up. There is also a book written about him.
6x6 Perentie in Diesel Turbo.

Want…
Would make a crazy rough terrain touring vehicle
Ditch the seats, make an epic camper.
Bought myself a 1998 defender 300TDI…, pretty darn happy. Been after this one for a while, and finally the bloke said yes during a MTB ride.
Came with the following, which is the main reason for wanting it. The ‘bones’ of a beast to pretty much drive anywhwere is present, if I add a roof top tent it’d be complete. IT has a list of jobs that need to be done, and each job is 10 to 30 mins of time. So far its been a great 5 days, and most of that is just cleaning it up. The cut and polish took a long time, and now just have to do the small edges. The inside was a disgrace, close to 15 years of dogs being kept in the back, and never cleaned. Whats good, is when everything is covered in a layer of dirt, the underneath comes up an absolute treat (no real dulling from the sun).
Also came with the following;
1). As I drove up the drive, looking a bit tired.
2). Decal removal and staring to tidy it up.
3). 5 days later, the roof had never been cleaned. A good cut and polish, a few days spent fixing up small items and a proper walk around to get a list of parts needed.
Now to add sound deadener to the floor, with a top cover of marine carpet. Some rubber seals I’ll replace to stop some noise, but really…that’s it (for the moment).
fucking yes.
^^ Endorsed!
Doubly!
Very nice indeed.
BEST $35 I’ve spent on the Defender…if you know what you are looking at, you will understand.
And if you don’t, its a conversion that does this…kicks the handbrake over the left, to give you more room for you legs.
Bought from here;
Spent $25 on a kit which allows the rear passenger doors to now open 90 degrees. GREAT to jam bulky things in/out.

Is there a kit about to ensure that the rear doors close properly? Mine are quite finicky at the best of times.
Rear Door, or passenger doors?
You can get a gas strut for the rear door on the back, which is awesome. If you mean the rear passenger doors you just need to adjust them at the hinge, or the striker or the door seals are sticking out too much.
Yeah, passenger doors.
I had heard that the door seals mess with the whole operation. But it seems that the latch doesn’t really activate properly. Will look at the hinge adjustment. Thanks man.
And call me crazy, but I kinda like how the handbrake sits tight against the leg, it did take a little while to get accustomed to it, but yeah, I like it.
