I ain’t up to date on my masi history, but pretty sure this is an OG masi. Very collectable builder and one in this condition is rare, hence the real collectors having a field day on ebay.
Masi, Cinelli, De Rosa … any early example will allways command big $'s and has plenty of collector cache. They were hot ticket items for a a baby boomer generation, especially from the US. Colnago to a lesser extent … anything pre-1975 is gonna get big bucks. After that, he became a business man who subcontracted a lot of work (less cache).
The above example was more than likely built by Faliero with the assistance of his son Alberto. It just may have been built by Mario Confente which could explain the speculative wild price. Haven’t checked it out enough to know.
