haha, so did i! I saw him the other say. same bike, same lolz. He mentioned he might pop in…
And to remain on topic, Shortie, when you sit on the saddle, try sliding yourself back and forth on it. Does it feel better at certain points? If so, rather than the saddle needing to be changed, it could be the fore/aft, or angle of the saddle. It can make a big difference.
cool…alright I’ll try sliding back and forth today but i dunno if it will make a diff now coz my butt is sore already lol…shows how long since i rode a bike
what do you mean by “fore/aft”…is that just a term about angles? The original saddle was a Velo Saddle and everyone tells me to not even bother breaking it in coz it won’t, hence why i got the san marco ponza although i was looking at the selle italia c2 gel flow on ebay as well…
one more thing…ive got a smith snowboarding helmet and i took out the cloth padding for it and used it as a bike helmet which obviously left a bit of room in my head…shud i just get a bmx helmet instead which fits right?
I’d strongly advise getting a road helmet, most BMX helmets will be next to useless if you come off your bike at speed. Head down to Cecil Walker Cycles on Brunswick street, they’ve recently been selling decent discounted helmets.
Edit: Almost forgot, don’t use a snowboarding helmet with the padding taken out!
with my snowboarding helmet when i meant padding I meant the padding which keeps the helmet warm for the snow not the actual foam padding if that is what u were thinking.
It still has the foam padding but it’s just that without the warm padding it is a lil bit loose…i reckon my snowboarding helmet is just as strong as a bike helmet no?
Was looking at the Lazer One Helmet at Cecil the other day…good? no good?
Right, well your snowboarding helmet will probably be as helpful as a BMX helmet in a decent crash, but I highly doubt as helpful as a road cycling specific helmet. The Lazer One is a BMX helmet, and would likely be fine for most riding, personally I would go for the Lazer 2X3M (Lazer Helmets) if you’re on a budget. Hope this helps.
cool! Well my riding is mainly for leisure and i don’t ride very fast anyway, just to commute around the city and maybe around st kilda and port melbourne, so i guess the Lazer One will do.
One last question though, why is a road bike helmet considered safer than a bmx helmet?
Thanks for the help guys,
I ordered the Globe from Fitzroy Revolution, nice store.
Changing a couple things as I buy it (new seat and pedals)
And will change bars/stem/grips soon.
I like it and I appreciate the feedback, hopefully I’ll be hanging around here a bit.
I know a guy on another forum that said exactly the same thing brendan. Anyway, Geordsta, I’ve ridden a Globe 2011 (the only fixed gear i’ve ridden as of yet) and it’s really smooth and responsive.
Whenever I start to pedal at a faster rate, I can feel a lil bit of a vibration on my right pedal where the chains and crank is. Is this something I should be worried about? Is it something that I can do to stop the vibration?
It’s not really an issue just a bit annoying coz it’s doesnt feel as smooth as i thought it would be
hey:)
i have purchased a track frame and it has front fork width of 100mm… is this normally so small? i thought it was around the 120mm mark. What size hubs will fit? Thanks
Hey
i bought this Diacompe BRS101 Front Caliper and the screw to put through the forks is to short… like the receiving bolt on the other side is either not long enough or the screw isn’t or my forks are to wide… what should i do?
