Post your roadie

Nice bike, I think Blakey said the kinesis forks take 28’s in the tapered models not sure in the straights?

Hi All,

I’ve been lurking the forums for the past few months and decided to sign up to show you all my new ride!

Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra with full Shimano 600 groupset (in almost brand new condition). Rides like a dream.
Not too sure how old the frame is - tried to figure it out via the serial number but haven’t had much luck.

excellent first post, welcome.

^^ Hot! Get those tyres matchy match…

That’s definitely a high priority. Trying to decide whether to go for tan-wall tyres or just all black… any suggestions?

For poisering or actual road cycling?

I’m a gumwall fan, but I reckon the black looks better on that bad boy.

actual road cycling. This will be my good weather bike - hoping to get a lot of use out of it, so the tyres need to be decent. I’ve got gatorskins on two of my bikes and vittoria rubinos on my other roadie. haven’t had any problem with either of them, but looks wise, not sure what I want for this bike.

+1…

black it is then… wiggle has a deal on conti gator hardshells, so I might pull the trigger on those.
Other than that, I’m pretty happy with the bike as is… the rims dont match though… rear is a mavic open pro and the front is a mavic reflex… you can tell who ever had the bike before I did just built it up with spare parts he had lying around…

Get gp4000’s they are the best of the conti’s or better still vittoria evo cx

this

Extra nice bike Ben.

new wheel day for me few weeks back (also new cassette, chain & brakes), will be new shifters, derailleurs, cables & bar tape day as soon as well

Thanks man. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. I’m not used to getting a new bike and having it “just work”.

My 2011 Bianchi Pista had massive hub issues and took me months and months to figure out what was going on and my Ken Evans Evolution roadie got molested by a moron at bicycle superstore in mornington, which resulted in the body of the left hand shifter being snapped almost in half (the shifter was a campagnolo c-record 8 speed. so. not easy to replace).

So I’ve taken this out on 20km+ rides every day since buying it just waiting for something to crack or fall apart. so far all that’s happened is I get home and just want to go straight back out on it!!

It’s not a deal if the tyres suck.

GP4000 / Ultremo are both much better options.

Agree on the ultremos. Just put a set on new wheels and they are great all round.

I’m on Michelin Pro 4s ATM, never much liked the previous Pro Races but the 4s are a big leap forward. Super nice ride and seem to be much tougher.

I have been very happy with vredestein tricomps

Update shot with new wheels, as seen in new purchase thread.
A23/Ultegra/CX-Ray, with spanking 28mm Ultremo ZXs. New SKS guards too since last it was seen here. Probably a couple of other things too.
This bike has lapped up everything I’ve thrown at it and come back for more.
