I understand their intentions. The older I get the more the issue of road safety for cyclists weighs on my thoughts.
I see people spend more on bar tape (replace twice a year) than helmets (replace every 5 or 6 years, maybe even longer). They’re ill fitting, stinky and the UV/foam material has more or less degraded to the point of offering next to no protection upon impact. I don’t like looking down on people but I do think spending money on a helmet that fits well, is comfortable (cinched up tightly) and is well designed is in some ways money very wisely spent. Couldn’t care less if they used electrical tape wrapped around old t-shirt material for bartape (ghetto 70’s 10 speed mod).
