^ im actually starting to wonder if a big peg board is a better idea then a rolling cabinet/tool chest
Depends if you like to show off your tools
Certainly a lot cheaper and if you’re not using the wall space then it makes it a pretty good option. There are some good metal pegboard systems around. Redback is one if I recall correctly.
Pfft… That bench is too clean and organised…
I picked up some slatboard for $50 on the old ebay to clad with.

This is an oldish picture, still setting up. I’ve since put some big tools up on it along with a bunch of parts, like cranks/brakes/bars etc. I like the toolbox cos I know it so well now, but I don’t move it. I’ve got a little stool now that I move to where I’m working which just has the tools I’m currently using on it, and any parts that I pull off. It’s working well so far. More pics to come when I’ve got it a bit more setup.
looks awesome pete, slatboard is a great pick up! im constanly eyeing gumtree for some similar.
looks like im picking up a pegboard for $30 off gumtree, i think all the hooks ill need is gonna cost me a shitload more.
Now the missus wants a small section to store our shoes and a small bench as we’re most likely going to enter the house via the garage. Might need to do some re arranging.
Stand your ground, Jase. ![]()
Depends if your man/bike cave is dust sealed and doesn’t have condensation issues.
I like peg board as you can see which tools are missing quickly, especially if you’ve been doing a couple of jobs at once.
Peg board FTW. Especially if you draw shadows around your tools - better than fossicking through drawers truing to find that the right tool. Keep your drawers for those small tools like crank pullers, spare parts and sundries.
When I get my own place I’m gonna setup my workshop with a shitload of fluoros. So sick and tired of working in poorly lit garages - constantly trying to find the spring, ferrule or misc small part that I’ve just dropped. I might also invest in a magnetic bowl. :o
Pete, your shed is so dreamy.
Renovations are near complete on the house, so got some time to spend on the garage.
Moved around a few things and brought my bench over, that thing was heeavvy.
Definitely gonna go pegboard above the stainless steel workbench.
Corner cupboard/shelves are shoe storage for the wife and kids

a quick mock up

Nice one! Good storage on the mezzanine
cheers mate! Yeh, mezzanine is def handy. Not sure how much weight i can put up there exactly, but definitely handy to store the bulky lighter stuff.
Some more progress last night, actually mounted and started filling it up. As always you dont realise how much stuff you have until you move!
Hopefully have this all sorted tonight, then i can start on the bikeroom

for those not on my IG, pretty much finished the workbench

and the study, still organising shit

That looks really good jase. A big fan of the (clean) workbench. One day I hope to own a house so that I can build a bench and put a vise on it.
I had a huge clean up yesterday. My wife bought me a few containers from IKEA and helped me reorganise all my shit.
Today we bought a new bike rack from Amart in the interests of reorganising my bikes too. I have sold a few recently with one more (hopefully two) on their way out so it should all work perfectly. Here is today’s before:

and here is the after, with new rack. Excuse blurry pics - HTC One m8 camera is awful in mixed lighting conditions.

Pretty psyched where life is at right now regarding my stable. Once I get the Duarte back from the shop built up and sort that, I will be set for a long time.
I moved into a new place about a month and a half ago. Been working crazy hours so haven’t had much time to set anything up. Awoke from an afternoon nap today to find my wife had been hard at work and set this up for me.

Escape the Hayfever day in the workshop! Small workshop means making sure all my storage works well. Nailed cap storage! Just keep screwing in hooks as I acquire more!!

It’s to keep the toddler out.
