Whoa! Totally awesome bike cave Keith! That table looks sweet.
Jealous.

There is an epoxy material that is specifically made for making surface tables. People pour huge tables using it to fit whole F1 car chassis.
Always a good option for the framebuilder
I’ve got the details for the material somewhere, Dubrat looked into it too
What is the green, red and white bike?
This is the stuff I looked at. Looks pretty cool.
Yeah thats some pretty good stuff right there ^. My option (ardit) was the dodgy carpenter/builder option rather than the nerdy F1 car builder!!
It’s a Detto Polare. From what I know it’s a mid-late 80s Italian technotrat frame. Would look something like this in its original glory(although mine originally had Shimano 600 and Suntour gear on it), but it has been my single speed daily commuter for years now. It looked like this when I rescued it from my brother’s shed.

Nice, I’ve got a soft spot for the green, white, red and chrome italian frames. I don’t often lust over a bike but recently saw a girl riding a Tommasini with similar paint to yours and have wanted one ever since! They really do look nice with complementing components. ![]()
Dat detto is awesome
And so it begins, got the keys to our house we’ve been renting out the last 18months. Reno plans on the kitchen/bathroom/floors, but my main concern is of course the garage. Problem is we may need to fit two cars, which means limited space for me, we do have a pretty big alfresco so possible set up there too

Upstairs, insulate, stairs, mezzanine bike space or not enough head room?
Awesome! Say goodbye to all your ca$hmoney. Still recovering from the reno’s we did 6 month ago.
Next up for us is Bathroom/Kitchen/backyard. Happy happy joy joy!
Kid’s look excited
Been busy continuing work on the mini workshop (1.5 x 3.8m). The floor was only the mdf/chipboard style flooring so was pretty cold up here in the Winter plus hard to keep clean. I was going to tile with some tiles that had been left from the previous owner. Not workshop friendly even though this is only the storage and minor workspace. A flooring place had opened up so I went and got some vinyl flooring (4x2m - $120 including the adhesive and trowel). Pretty stressful making sure all the bubbles were out of it using a piece of timber with an old towel wrapped around it to push them out. Came up really well and a pretty cheap and easy to clean option. I then put in Tas Oak skirting boards.
Electricians were in last week so wiring is done and I can finish putting up the remaining wall panels. I have started on drawers for the workbench pictured that I built last year. After that, paint, light fittings, cupboards and it’s just about done. After dropping off the old insulation from the house on the weekend at the tip I found a 1970s Hitachi Receiver/Amp which I am going to put in as well. Works perfectly although not cosmetically perfect. I hung a new glass door on the workshop which makes a big difference to the light. Speaking of lights, does anyone know of any small battery powered fluoro lights available? I would like to put one in the cupboard I am building.
A place opened up here in Daylesford around the start of the year called Imperial Fox which has lots of old industrial bits and pieces mainly from closed down factories and schools. I picked up three of those metal Rota mini chests of drawers. Really solid and good quality. He had about 40 chests so you could mix and match the drawers. Tempted to get more. Lots of good workbenchs, storage lockers and that sort of kit there as well. I also picked up a grinder stand for $40 which I am going to mount outside on a new deck outside the workshop. Just take the grinder/polisher in after use.
Hope all your caves are coming on well!!

The veggie garden, citrus and olives are going in between the workshop and house.

Score!
Love that work bench Keir
Many thanks Avvocato, It wasy my first indoor woodworking project and I built it last Winter. My only experience had been doing decking and that sort of stuff around the house. It was made out of Tas Oak which from what I understand is Mountain Ash here in Vic. The key was selecting the timber fairly carefully as there was a lot of warped pieces on offer. It is pretty easy to work with and I just made it up as I went along. Due to the size of the workshop I wanted something that was a specific size that still allowed me some room to move. That timber comes in all shapes and sizes so I made it up as I went along. It is very sturdy and pretty darn heavy. The fascia panels and dowelling is pretty much just cosmetic but I thought if I’m spending that much time on it, I might as well make it look nice. Below is the 90 x 45 ladder frame which is where I started and took it from there. Cheers Keir

not enough room, more importantly not enough cash!
we’ve budgeted and saved/borrowed for the chunk of it, we just havnt budgeted anything for my man space =(
ill have to dig something out from my wrecking yard =D
yeh, they went ape shit
Test road the van and it fits which means i can drive it through and park in the alfresco, and have the second smaller car in the garage, this means i can use at least 30-40% off the garage as storage and my work area
Picked this up off gumtree to start off my work area, cupboard, workbench with under storage and a wall cabinet, $70

Kind of an old pic now, but finally have a garage. My peg board has filled out a bit since then too.
Sweet. How’s the temp?
Right now, bloody freezing
Not spending as much time out there as I thought I would. Inside is alright
