You need to start a synth-based one-man band in Tassie, for a name I suggest ‘Hal-bent y los Fixados’
Just put 2x Rat Trap tires in the Compass basket, with shipping it’s like $175 USD… fuck that
Get them from Spirito instead
You can finally preorder them. Only 3k and you might even get it in 2017
BrakeFree- thanks I forgot about Spirito
Ordered mine from Spirito, very good
What they are actually offering is alright compared to what this all started as.
Shit stuff:
-12x148mm thru-axle disc (180mm brake rotor only)
-47mm BOOST chainline
-73m BB shell
(I realise some of this is unavoidable with a + size tyre)
Good Stuff:
-Midfork rando and low-rider mounts, seatstay rack mounts
-Internal-wiring ports on drive-side fork blade for dynamo hub
Rawlands got ugly. And got left behind. What’s with the 180mm only rotor?!
Yeah, #sorrynotsorry to state the obvious but they really dropped the ball on this. In the time that they’ve been fucking around with this, Crust have announced, built, and shipped their bromanceur. And as noted above, all the weird decisions on frame specs will bite the unwary frame-only purchaser. Complete actually kinda makes a little bit of sense, even though the spec will probs be watered down in part to make them more money.
tl;dr - meh
And yeah, for compass stuff Spirito is the guy. Got some babbyshoes for a decent price.
I knew you were short, but…
My feet are disproportionately large. You know what they say about a guy with big feet? Big shoes.
Excellent balance.
I like it. The fact that they took time to do it is irrelevant, who cares. Also, it sort of doesn’t make sense to me that the frame-only option gets a meh while the complete gets a pass. What sorts of problems are people gonna run into planning for their parts that’s gonna be more problematic than with any other frame? It’s not like they’re hiding info for buyers to make mistakes choosing parts.
Anyhoo, #hatersbehatin’
My comment was to do with it using new standards like boost etc, and it being an issue for an “unwary” purchaser. Hopefully there won’t be any of those, but I can guarantee there’ll be some chump who buys 135mm QR hubs and 160mm rotors and is all omgwtf why didn’t someone tell me.
The “meh” from me was for the whole thing, frame or complete. Just doesn’t ring my bell, but I’m not the target market. Not even sure why I’m commenting.
Bit disappointed with:
Optimized for 650B/27.5" or 26"
The optimization should be for 26!! Have you forgotten Enduroallroad Rawland??
And how do you optimise for two different wheel sizes with many tyre size options? I’d buy “optimised for 26 x 3 or 27.5 x 2.5”.
