There’s a Reid with similar graphics that parks in the bike cage at work that has internal top tube cable routing. I was surprised/impressed. Are Reid actually getting some okay bikes in their line-up?
They must be aware that their name is synonymous with “shit”.
If they’re going to make to make some actually half-decent bikes they should’ve created a sub-brand, made up some bullshit back-story, and pretended it was from an entirely different company altogether.
Downtown is possibly slightly better as cable entry is under the top tube.
Basing that on the routed cables just being through holes in the top tube and not having a narrow tube within the top tube for the cable to run through.
Isn’t that just true for bike nerds, rather than the general public?
Looking at the sheer number of bikes they sell, people seem to be happy enough with their products. The bikes appear to meet the needs of the average consumer at a great price point. Right?
Probably right.
But I know a lot of people ask their bike nerd friends for advice, and while I’ve recommended Cell I’ve never recommended Reid. Too many horror stories.
Considering the price I reckon this thing would be pretty okay. It’s specced reasonably the price, I mean my All City Nature Boy was pretty much identical when I bought it except for maybe sealed hubs and the RRP of those is heaps more $$$. Despite Reid’s reputation, I think their trying to do some better bikes. If I was in the market for another SSCX I’d definitely give this a crack.
