Yeah, Sky are doing well to control the race but it’s making it dull. Hopefully not every else looks to copy this method of winning #needsmorepanache
Also, watching Geraint Thomas is truth to Louviot’s words “Give me a pursuit world champion and in three years I’ll give you back a champion on the road.”
Yep, I’m with you dave, Gee seems like a solid guy but the SkyBorg is a little disconcerting.
I hadnt heard that Louivot quote, but its pretty true to form.
I’m not sure what Sky is doing, but it has them at a solid level above everyone else. When Bertie and Quintana can’t get a break its odd. Everyone was throwing down last night and to little avail.
But onto better topics: What a surprise that Vino is a dickhead boss? I can’t think that Nibali will have trouble finding another ride, though he might need to take a paycut from his ‘reported’ salary
I’d discount all comparisons to Contador and Nibali. Nibbles is obviously off his feed. He’s been dropped by 20 other middle-of-the-road climbers, not just Sky. And Contador did the Giro so that explains his form.
I reckon Specialized were/are financing nibbles, much like they do Cavendish (maybe not the same percentage) but I’d say anyone who gets a special frame, especially multiple iterations that are available to the public is being funded that way.
As far as the whole sky doping thing, it’s very hard not to be cynical after the performance last night but I guess we’ll have to wait 5 or 10 years for the next round of sorry’s.
I was really rooting for kwiatkowski when he was going up solo, but once that trio decided to kick on it showed just how slowly he was actually going. Not unhappy with rodriguez winning by any means, he stomped it and anyone from Astana can just get farked as far as I’m concerned.
I don’t even think Thomas is doping, but because of this cloud that hangs over pro cycling I just couldn’t take any joy from watching my favourite cyclist ride like a boss.
