Remember, Froome has the most experience because he did Paris-Roobaix 8 years ago or whatever.
Martin was unlucky to miss the yellow jersey the day before by just six one hundred tenths of a second. So close Phil!
I also liked this, when Froome was on the front of a small bunch after the last sector, “Nibali really should be pulling through here…(5 seconds later as the group sits up)… and that’s smart riding from Nibali not to pull through”.
That was a sweet move, love seeing people win like that.
Also if you guise hate the SBS commentary, why not stream eurosport? The British guy isn’t too bad and if you can see past the bland tonality, Sean Kelly seems to talk about 300% less rubbish than any other commentator.

I enjoy playing the game of spotting riders and incidents before they do. I don’t hate them like I hate the Channel 9 cricket commentators who are total bogans. I quite like them as people, but maybe they need a third man, like a spotter to alert them to the real on-road situation, whispering in their ear so they can at least pretend to know what’s happening.
Cycling commentary needs to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Why not have live commentary from someone on a motorbike out on the road? They really need to move faster with bringing in the rider tracking software.

It’s not the commentary per se, it’s the entire coverage. It’s stuck in a 1980s model. All sports broadcasting should be shamed by the America’s Cup in SF a year or so ago.
The techology is available to make it more exciting but it seems there’s a lack of will to change.

Perhaps it could be the Schleck brothers. One of them driving, drunk or on the gear. It’d make for compelling viewing.
That guy spends a scarey amount of time with his eyes off the road.
But the passion!
Maybe he could enjoy that beetroot salad as a delightful entree or light lunch #gabrielgate
Edit: just watched Henk reunite with his old EM Titane bike. Steph says “how did bikes get so ugly in such a short period of time”? Hard to argue, that bike was beautiful, my #ConcordeBuild is beautiful, the Moser’s and Colnagos and so on I’ve seen on this forum have been beautiful - I don’t think people are going to look back on the new Venge/Propel/Foil/etc and regard it in the same way.
