You’re turning me on, Blakey.
Look at that smuglord go.
Maybe
More likely this. Darren doesn’t appear to talk to customers so I was quoting what I was told by Ryan.
I believe it’s an anomaly or inclusion that has caused a blemish in the finish.
It’s quite possible a lamination issue as Blakey has pointed out.
Noted and will be visited. We are staying at the RMH so we will have some time on the Saturday morning before heading back across the border.
This has happened. After some further discussion something like this is being done:
Volkswagen R blue for the frame, full frame painted
Campy Centaur silver 10 speed shifters, cranks, FD/RD
Shifter Dan built HED/Record wheelset
3T Ergonova bars from my current roadie
3T ARX stem (from ‘stock cupboard’)
3T Dorico Pro post (from Baum ‘stock cupboard’ - same offset as the Enve post)
So all the same shape parts as the other bike just wider rims and tyres - more spokes, one less gear.
That is a GOOD colour choice.
This is probably my favourite Baum frameset I’ve ever seen. Great colour choice.
“this” as in lulzI’mBikeTartwithafreeGaulzetti or “this” as in puttingsomepaintoverthe"grain"andgettinadiscount
Either way, that paint is better than most of their current massive panel paint jobs
One of the main ingredients of beer.
Sorry.
What happened to Bike Tart? Did the ‘haters’ drive him underground?
EDIT: haha yes they did! http://biketart.cc/what-happened-to-biketart-cc/
Option B Blakey, option B.
And putting the Grand Bois Cerf Blue label tyres on it.
Just waiting fir the good folk at Commuter to get more stock.
wow awesome choice with the paint, must have been disappointed when you heard it was delayed.
what wheels?
So good! Can’t wait to see it. Same decals as the one in the pic, too?
I think green bartape might be a nice touch.
Sorry for the double post, but this is kind of a thread dig… has this happened? I’ve been checking every couple of days, super keen to see how it pans out.
I’m also still not sure about what is happening. If I understand it correctly, the original frame is being painted blue all over, and the replacement frames without a grain is also being/has been built?
^ I take it you’d quite like a Baum yourself JP?
According to Instagram the blue one is being built up at the moment.
Well, yeah, I’d probably be happy to ride one if the decals were suitably small.
I really am excited to see how this pans out, and I’m appreciative of the fact that the whole thing has been open and subject to input and criticism… I don’t have the guts to do the same, too afraid of people I don’t know and probably don’t like boo-hooing my idea of what is GREAT.
Its been fun to follow, and if two bikes are going to happen I think we should all rejoice as one.
So things are progressing.
As Zoltan has said, the blue frame (that’s Volkswagen ‘R’ blue has arrived and is half built.
Steerer tube cut and alu insert with starnut bonded in.
I need to steal the cranks from my current roadie which has held things up.
Jodie from Baum called today to say that the complete bike is ready to go.
Unfortunately I’m getting carpet laid next week and the wife is away O/S for work so I can’t
get over to Geelong next week to pick it up.
So I’ll be heading to Geelong the following week then up to Melbs for a day or so.
Will put up some pics of the blue bike soon, otherwise check out the Hipstagram for the iPhone pics.
