thanks mate!
yeah that one above is an absolute cracker. colours are great.
Noad bad but needs more horse racing adverts
cheers thanks!!!
heres one with the 35mm prime 1.8. seems to work well in doors ![]()

haha maybe there was from the side ![]()
I like how you put the watermark in the water.
That 35mm shot, I guess if you are shooting wide open indoors on a subject like that, then a focus point is pretty hard to define. It seems to be on the brake lever and thats it. I maybe would have shot with it at f/4.0 to have the front end of that bike all in focus. I really like the angle of the head tube matching with the mirror + picture frame angles in the background.
Another thing I would look out for is distracting things in the background like that front leg on the bottom left. I photoshopped it out so you can get an idea of what I mean.

EDIT: This is all just personal opinion of how I see things. Feel free to tell me to piss off.
Cam ā do you use manual focus with focus peaking? It comes in handy when you are aiming for the shallow depth of field stuff.
Cheers! Yeah I only put the watermark on this particular upload because it was on a site that I donāt have an account for.
Thanks for the feed back on the bike shot, yes I was just focusing on the lever. I did have a few more shots of the whole front end in focus. Just ended up posting this particular one.
Wow yes that does make a difference with the chair leg out of the picture ![]()
Itās things like this that make me improve so no need to piss off!
Every time I see a pic now with the horizon not level I notice it which I didnāt previously when my pics were uneven.
I havenāt dived in to the manual focusing as yet. Still got a lot to learn.
Iāll give that a try !!!
Thanks again for the feed back and advice Liam!

Speaking of manual focus. Pretty happy with this given the speed at which the bees were moving ā taken with the Helios 44-M mounted to the X-E2. Could be sharper, but shooting it wide open gives a small focal point.
Thats Nice Liam!! im loving manual focus now
cant thank you enough for that tip ![]()
Nice one.
went to check out sculptures by the sea last night, managed to snap this one without any crowed in the way -
Thinking of entering the Cyclingtips / Mark Gunther photo comp, in the smartphone category. Andy got third place in this last year with this banger.
But I canāt decide between a colour or black and white version of this photo I took on the weekend. What say you, FOA photo critics? Colour, or black and white?

Iām going to go with B+W ā more dramatic and it defines the complex shapes in the trees more. Good luck!
This one:

I may have already printed this at A1 and hung it in my bike cave.
hmmmmm tough call. i think mabelās pink jacket draws the eye in more than the contrast in the trees in the B&W pic. but both are great. depends what aspect of the shot you wanna draw the eye toā¦
black and white imo
Winnerā¦

Just need to tweak the contrast with a tighter crop:
