The Podcast Thread.

Goddamn it.

Yeah - that was full on.

i guess iā€™d rather know from the start than get to the end and be all ā€œwait, what?!ā€

his tv show is also really good. its about him doing podcasts and his wacky life. but not real

Yeah I back wtf 100%. I really enjoyed all of those mentioned above as well as the adam goldberg one which he did recently.

Haha yeah itā€™s good. Iā€™ve watched about 8 eps on netflix recently and enjoyed it.

The Henry Winkler episode is great too.

Not quite that short but Radio Lab is pretty good.

I listened to Serial in the shed working on bikes late at night. Itā€™s a great time to listen.

The Dollop , a funny american history podcast.
Free to a good home, comedy podcast based in Sydney , they talk about weird classifieds

I rate the New Yorker fiction podcast - each month the fiction editor from the New Yorker invites an author to come in to read, then discuss, a short fictional story which has been published in the New Yorker. They usually read a favourite story, not necessarily their own. Very good stories, and I usually find the discussion enlightening.

The Champs. It can be pretty rude, but itā€™s a good antithesis to the all the American Life/Serial style podcasts out there

A few Iā€™ve been listening to lately that I donā€™t think have been mentioned yet:

Other Ppl - Brad Listi interviews writers, often unheard of and emerging. Interesting if you are word inclined.
Invisibilia - pop psychology. I enjoyed this a lot. Short series though.
Criminal - for those suffering Serial withdrawals.
The Allusionist - for word nerds.
Notebooks on Cities and Culture - a bit long winded and sometimes pompous, Colin Marshal interviews people about cities and culture, duh. The most recent season on South Korea was really good.
Benjamen Walkerā€™s Theory of Everything - great themes, quite random. Recently the demise of New York traced through the rise of AirBnB, and the shitness of the internet.
Fugitive Waves - a great mix of historical recordings, lost stories, often food orientated. Highly recommended.

I LOVE the Allusionist. Also, related (literally) - The Bugle. Listen to their post election episode. Fucking Hilarious.

  • Rolly, I didnā€™t like serial. The whole thing left me feeling a bitā€¦ white and a privileged. Listening to a fucking podcast about a bunch of kids in a fucked up situation, which is a real situation I might add, all for entertainment? fuck that.

Not a fan of everything they do (Bugle News is a bit shit), but those brief dot point mock histories of civilizations they do are an absolute pisser. Biggsy often plays them on his RRR radio show on Friday mornings. Never fail to elicit a hearty lol.

Iā€™m with you guys on this. I wanted to like it, but as the ā€˜serialā€™ progressed I couldnā€™t get past its many flaws, especially its treatment (or lack thereof) of the true victim, Hae. All that ā€˜Free Adnanā€™ bs floating around didnā€™t help my opinion either. Glad to get that off my chest.

Lately Iā€™ve been listening to F this Movie, pretty good film anslasys but spoiler heavy, so for post viewing only. The Radio National Science Show is usually pretty good too.

Everything Is Stories
Really great podcast series.

Yeah - I burnt out on Serial. Didnā€™t finish it.

Iā€™m hooked on the Star Wars minute podcasts.

couldnā€™t figure out why I wasnā€™t seeing new episodes to download in any of my subscribed podcastsā€¦ realised I had all of them on ā€˜My episodesā€™ instead of ā€˜Feedā€™.

ALL OF THE PODCASTS!!!
