mckenny is KOM of my heart.
I would say a quick average? Over 9k’s I’d say 4:00/km would be quick, 5:00-6:00/km would be average and anything slower would be sloooooooow.
so mckenny is a running champion?
he runs, he’s a champion…so, yes.
that’s not bad, if you never run then it’s good.
yar, but didn’t really care too much. there’s one segement where the KOM is 2-3 minutes faster than the next closest person. unless they’re kenyan, i reckon they did it on a bike.
cool, ta. i dunno how people do mrathions without music. shit is pretty boring.
Sounds like a passable aerobic pace. I do much of my base training at that kind of pace and then race around a minute per km faster.
5:04/km = first half of potential potential realised!
I did 100k at just under 8min/k last weekend, you would have smashed me, and broken the course record if you could keep that pace up for 8 hours or so on dirt with 4300m of climbing.
I run without music, it’s a zen thing ![]()
I remember there was a dude at work who got all this praise for running a marathon in just under three hours. I thought that it wasn’t that great…then I found out it was basically up the side of a mountain. Oops.
I’m doing one that is half up a mountain this year… The second half is down… Won’t do 3 hrs.

Sub three is still a good goal to work towards for most people… Flat or hilly!
That will be ace! So, 8000ft-ish of climbing there? Are you going to do the buller skyrun in the la sportiva series next season? Similar amount of climbing, more oxygen and 3 more km, and only 3 hours from Melb!
If you feel like a weekend of running the mtns around canberra anytime, PM me! We dont have many climbs longer than 800m vert, but its all great and its all close.
Anyone in Melb doing the salomon trail series?
maybe a bit late but there’s a pretty decent running shop across from the Pado on Given Tce if you’re not keen on buying online
this is awesome.
i’ve just started running again to get some fitness back after 4ish months of doing nothing since getting back from overseas. bit of fartlek (haha i said fart…) today in attempt to lose the stomach flab. all up did 8km at 5:40 pace which iw asn’t unhappy with.
i think it could be new runners time soon, but my feet are retarded so that means a visit to the overly expensive podiatrist.
Anyone here gone through runners knee issues?
I’m seeing a physio atm trying to get back out running. Very annoying, it killed off my oxfam hike after 50km and has stopped me from running in the last few weeks.
not personally, but i deal with triathletes everyday at work. have you gone to a good sports podiatrist? i i thought i could run in anything, but my podiatrist told me i couldn’t. apparently i would have royally rooted myself if i had kept running in my asics(and i thought they were the comfiest shoes i’d ever used).
