NSJ: Someone trying to flog a bike you built (after they removed the original fork and made it super ugly) for more than double what they paid.

Agreed. I like that frame though (fork does make it look shite).
Needs this right!

SJ: After fixing my mtb it is running sweet again, and I found 3 hours for a solo session on Sunday to hit it out on the trails.
Sold it too cheap droz!
It had a really fine straight blade rigid fork but had been cut to 90’s slammed mtb height, making it really long and low.
I can’t pretend I havent flipped bikes for a profit before but normally I make them look better!
Jase - surprisingly didnt have much interest in it, and I needed the space. It’s also got a rapid rise derailleur, so lets blame that.
Bike Snob has been playing around with one of those on his Rivendell of late. He rates it. Apparently Rivendell are looking to put a ‘low normal’ derailleur into production. Low Is The New Normal – Bike Snob NYC
I have an XTR rapid rise one on my pub bike.
I do think they function pretty well. My only gripe is messing up the shift direction due to my other bikes.
this is just the most bonkers thing (after all of the others). Grant has seemingly become an expert in running a business into the ground.
smuggy hates it! I also hate it as a result.
SJ: Resigned today after 6 years in a corporate toxic environment that eventually sent my mental health spiralling down hill fast.
Feels So good!!!
Onwards and upwards
Nice one. What’s next?
cheers, Not sure just yet. More Riding i hope
ohmygod best feeling ever.
SJ: Bought a Katsu Sando from Coppe Pan japanese bakery.
Took a bite closed my eyes and just for a moment I was back sitting on the curb at the Lawson’s carpark in Hashimoto.
NSJ: opening my eyes.
I could go a right about now too
SJ: New bike day (Cotic Solaris)
NSJ: Probably have glandular fever and can’t/shouldn’t go ride it
SJ: At least it’s not covid
NSJ: My first covid test swab was lost so I had to have it a second time
NSJ (bittersweet SJ): My ex sold the first bike I bought as an adult yesterday. It was a late 70s Bridgestone Eurasia road tourer. Very lightweight for its day, chromo frame, 27in wheels, gumwalls, 2x5, etc.
I put thousands of kms on it riding around the country and doing beercycling at my group’s peak. After getting a couple more bikes and my then long term girlfriend moving to Hokkaido, I shipped it up there to ride with her when I would visit every month. We broke up between visits over a year and a half ago. I was going to go up there and get the bike to sell it to a buddy, but she refused to see me and said she’d send it. That never happened. She said one of her friends wanted to buy it, but I wanted too much money for it (intentionally high offer). Got a message this morning she sold it to someone else for about 20 AUD less than my previous high offer. So, after years of use, I ended up making money on it.
Wish I could have ridden it one last time though and maybe got a decent last pic of it. Last picture I have is putting it in storage for what I expected to be a month.
SJ: Stopped at the traffic lights on St George’s road bike path. Two high school kids are chatting on their bikes waiting for the lights to change. I’m mindlessly staring at the front wheel of one of bikes, when the kid shifts their weight. Thats when I notice the quick release lever swing like a pendulum. I interrupt their conversation and tell the kid that her quick release is loose. She looks down and lifts her bike to look.
No shit. The wheel just drops straight out.
She say oops, her friend laughs, the lights change and I ride off into the sunset feeling like a fukn hero.
absolute scenes holy shit.
