its been a wild 18 months and a lot of it doesn’t belong in the Small Joy thread. There’s some big joys - was laid off in March (a very desirable outcome) after 12 years there and the plan was for a sabbatical not a pandemic. Bought a mountain bike (just in time for Stage 4!) and replaced my single speed (magnificent failure in the Colossi frame) and was just starting to fall back in love with riding again
Our neighbours have also moved out over the back fence and left a laden lemon tree
How long did it take you to jump the fence and grab the lot?
Fixed that to keep the alliteration going.

How long lapsed before you leaped the laneway to liberate the lot
Preserved lemons!

Take the tree and if your new neighbors complain, tell them you’re parched and do this.
Wife’s cousin in Albury texted last night to ask if we were home and said something might be arriving.
Ten minutes later Uber Eats deSSert turned up - waffle treats and donuts.
It was their little lockdown treat for us.
Was it a bit dry?
It was like an oasis
SJ: Father’s Day scented beard oil makes social/outdoor mask wearing almost tolerable.
im grateful for the warmer weather, as it minimises the glasses fogging up. Still cursed tho.
taught myself to sew after a few bevs sunday night.
so far i have repaired:
2 x shirt buttons
1 x shirt hole
1 x tee shirt armpit hole
1 x jeans pocket
2 x jacket pockets
1 x pair boxers (tbh, this was mainly for practice, i’m not that cheap)
1 x face mask.
so i’m either being more productive in lockdown than i realise, or i’ve started to fkn lose it.
I’ve got so many socks you can practice on…
my rates are very reasonable.
edit - i’m as shocked as you are that the 15000th post in this ‘thread’ was about sewing…
Hand sewing? It’s very satisfying when you get it right. I’ve mended a few pairs of cycling gloves that came apart at the seams and the last few repairs have been pretty much invisible.
yeah by hand. no idea if i’m getting it right, hopefully the stitches don’t all come apart within a week or two, but it’s definitely satisfying!
Hand sewing is the new fixie.
it’s very zen.
