The small joys today thread (a bit of Yang for FoA Yin of late)

SJ: discovered that my road bike has ample clearance for a pair of 32mm gravelking slicks I had lying around

NSJ: punctured both tubes getting them onto the fucking piece of shit Rigida DP18 wheels. I hate these fuckn wheels so much. I’ve NEVER had so much trouble getting tyres on a set of wheels like I have with these overweight cunts. I want to throw them into a fire. Shit fuckn wheels. I only bought them cos they were cheap and look like Araya Super Aeros.

TC: 32mm gravel kings are some of the hardest tyres I’ve ever had to fit to a set of rims, so much so that I abandoned the idea half a dozen time after getting stuck part way.

I haven’t really had any problems with the tyres. A little tight but nothing crazy.
They’ve been on 3 different bikes in the last couple of years no issues.

I’ve always had issues with the shit fucking dp18s tho. Fuck them.

Perhaps the combo of tightish tyre on shit poory made oversize french garbage may have exacerbated the issue.

Sh0rts, if something is getting to you I think it’s a really good idea to let it out and tell us how you’re really feeling. Good luck brother

Thanks man. I just hate them so much.

I feel that. My gk slicks were also worst fucken tyres ever to put on. Spent aaages sitting on the dirt 10kms from the nearest road one day fixing two back to back punctures in one of them. I’m running them tubeless now hoping they don’t need to come off until the tread wears through. Might just cut the fuckers off when that happens.

SJ to balance it out… Seeing my brother and his fam (for the first time this year) this weekend. Should be good.

Fixed ain’t ded.

I thought that was a hole he was about to ride into.

SJ: Found a socket set that I’d completely forgotten about that has a 1" socket that fits perfectly over a freewheel tool. 4 foot breaker bar/jack handle here I come…

Mine takes a 15/16" i think it is. Breaker bar makes it possible to get old freewheels off, they can be stubborn bastard sometimes (all the time)

After my having phone seemingly dying a death of a thousand cuts I was today able to click & collect a $20 replacement battery which seems to have reinvigorated it.

Rode to Mount Martha this morning with some extreme sensations. Had a coke etc. Something is brewing, so to speak.

Got the local pump track all to myself for a whole hour on Saturday. Just had to wait for the hail to stop… Lol

NSJ: broke the tab off one my eTap batteries
SJ1: can still ride normal river loops cos perth
SJ2: found a new one at half price…yeww.

NSJ: realising only half hour after leaving the store and opening the bag that I was sold inner and outer gear cables that were not what I asked for (pretty sure I said “brake”), so now I have to pull out the storage tubs, which will take 20 minutes and much mucking about, to get at the brand new cable set I know I have in there
SJ: realising I can use it all on the next project cause I was out of gear outer and long gear inners after building the Bowman anyway

Know these feels. Building an entire bike and having the wrong cable (or one that is 2cm too short) is such a bummer.

SJ for today, got to finally mount my bike rack, pretty stoked with the extra space in the garage!IMG20201104193827

SJ: new bike is 7.95kg (without bidon, spare tube and tool pack, pump or Garmin). Probably 8.7 with Garmin, pack and pump. Hoping it just shades 9kg with a filled large bidon. Rider is still biggest weight penalty.

SJ: change my brake pads just in time for the super shitty weather today
NSJ: shitty weather
