The 'what you've done to your bike today' thread

Scored a cheap Steamroller that came with A23s laced to to Phils and a King headset. Swapped the rest of the parts off the Larry.

proper rig there!

I’ve done it to the chain stays of a Soma Double X.

You really need a G clamp modified with a concave surface on one side to support the outside tube and a steel sharply convex surface on the inside to make the indent.

Also its very hard to make a crimp on a bike with round tubes with out more tools and even with a bike already crimped it’s surprisingly hard to get anymore than 2mm extra crimpage.

I remember reading this thread a while back. I’d give a go. The Shogun might be softer than a double x?

Cheers yes something like this should work!! There’s currently no crimps on the stays so if I can just get a couple of mm each side should be fine!

Thanks mate! I’ll see if I can make something up like this also at dads place he should have stuff lying around.

I used vice grips to do the same on a shogun trail breaker the morning of a ride. It worked

I ended up doing this and and worked a treat! Thanks for the idea!!!

Started putting this Inbred together over the xmas break.
I originally thought I had most parts from my old Kinesis, but with changes in standards and ‘road’ to mtb changes, I think I’ll end up buying at least 65percent of parts required.
It’ll be used for popping wheelies, riding Yarra Trails and other fun activities.

That is going to be one fun bike! Where did you get that one from? I thought they stopped making them.

Got some cranks if you need them @mocco’s

Goldmembered the Conceicao:

old faithful with a few upgrades

Dragged my son away from the Playstation to get him to help me. Swapped to a near new 11-28 rear cassette, plays nice with the chain now. Rear rack will go for a front rack with a tray on it.

ahh memories

Nobody has ever accused me of being up to date with trends of any form…

New tyres, Chain and cranks (1x7)
Just have to put some alloy bars that i got from tom and its good to go!

^This is cool, will make for a fun commute!

Commuter rebuild.

Stripped this down to the frame, cleaned and rebuilt. New Apex 1x group (Force cranks), new cables, bartape, rewired and neatened the dynamo lighting. Like a brand new bike.

Wtf is going on with that seatpost?
