Three day micro-tour

can we get a roll call - definites and tenantives - on this bad boy please

Defs in.
this may seem like a stupid question - but should i bring jeans so we can go out drinking?
or are there places that will let me in with shorts? (not bike shorts obviously!)

im travelling seriously light so no jeans for me - that said, it is Byron and you’ll be fine at the greater majority of places in shorts

definite in, sans jeans.

5:30m at Radacliffe Place?

as a guide, last time I did this it took just under 7hrs + breaks.

paging antmandan??? you can’t miss this one buddy

… how bout I punish ryan round the river a few tmes in the leadup week to level out the pace :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

i’m in. Will be travelling very light aswell. 1 set of clothes only. What we doing for accom?

you’re on

gypo - I think we all have separate arrangements so far. I just jumped on wotif and booked the cheapest single room close to town. I’m at Byron Springs and Dave’s at Dolphins.

the surf last week was fuking HUGE at byron too - my mates were getting jetski tow ins on 12ft numbers… hoping it’s half decent again when we’re down - would be a magical way to finish a good hard days riding, out in the surf as the sun goes down

i’m staying at a place called the dolphins motel…

is it really dodgy?

You know I’m keen! Still have to ask her but was planning on getting Mrs Ant to drive a support car down to Byron as we’ve got family down there that I’m sure she’d be keen to see. I’m in a tight situation with regards to leave and work commitments at the moment, got to save the leave for when the baby arrives and get the work done before it comes as well. I’m thinking that I could ride down, come out on Sunday then drive home Sunday night with the missus. Will check with her and see what works. If I can’t get Mrs Ant on board then I’ll use the Sunday to get myself back to Brisbane solo.

We did 600 k’s in 6 days around that area, with a trailer and panniers etc.
we got the train to Robina and went from there
Robina - Murwillumbah - Nimbin - Lennox Head - Brunswick Heads - Chinderah - Robina

I’ve got Mrs Ant on board to drive the support vehicle down on Saturday. I’ll be doing the Saturday ride down and then chilling with her family on Sunday before we drive back.

If anybody wants to put anything in the back of the car please drop it off to us before Thursday. I’ll be in bed early Friday night so please don’t leave it until then to get your shit together. We can take anything you want us to take back to Brissie on Sunday morning but after that it’s up to you to mail it back or carry it back on the Monday.

PM me if you need the address but I don’t think there is anyone on here who hasn’t been to my place before. If I’m not home, leave it on the couch and I will know to put it in the car for you.

is it worth putting out a call to the Gold Coast crew for an escort/shortcut through the GC to the border?

I thought we discussed this… it’s called the Pacific Motorway

fyi - it’s a long weekend in NSW for this one so partying on Sunday night should be well wicked :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Monday’s ride home just got a lot harder…

I might be in BUT I’m super unfit atm. How hard are you c*nts going to hit it.
I’ve seen N8’s calves and they’re cut to shit!!! I don’t want to ride alone like a fat old shit!
I’m 40 too by the way!!

Fitness is relative but I think someone “super unfit” would struggle to cover 500km over 3 days?

I think Day 1 and 3 will mainly be tempo riding, sitting on around 30 depending on wind. Day 2 should get interesting…

I’ll be doing a river loop leaving regatta 6am Friday to turn the legs over before weekend. Company welcomed.

if by “interesting” you mean “awesomely punishing”

Day 1 and 3 simply comprises the cruise from Brisbane to Byron and vice-versa - as Ryan has intimated, day 2 is the curveball where we’re running up through the NSW northcoast hinterland… far from flat territory.

I’m still riding every day this week in the lead up - I experience insomnia if I don’t - just trying to keep the pace down, so I’ll be keen for a trundle on Friday Ryan.

If you haven’t done any centuries in the last couple of weeks then I’d say you’re going to find it too hard. Also, and no offence intended here Azz, we haven’t had you along on a bunch ride before so you are an untested quantity. We’ve trained together for this and as such we know each others limits, which is one very important factor for a group ride of this length.
