Late to the thread. I was a electronics geek during my teens and built a good number of amps and speakers. Got rid of most of my junk or left it under the house at my parents place in Melbourne. This bad boy made the trip to QLD with me though:
It’s a Kriesler Master Multi Sonic, made in Australia in the 60s. It has a Garrard turntable, tuner and a proprietary valve amplifier, 4 drivers per side of the cabinet (8 total) comprised of 2 woofers, 4 mids and 2 tweeters. I got it from my Aunt and Uncle six years back. Kicks out a pleasant but not awesome sound. One day I’ll upgrade the components, and install one of Hugh Dean’s amplifiers into it: ::: Aspen Amplifiers :::
NAD amp, tuner and cassette deck, B&W speakers and a Dual turntable.
I made an offer on behalf of a friend because it was too good to pass up only to find out he has changed his mind & run out of money over X-Mas. Before I pass it up and let the seller know I thought I’d offer it up here. I’m happy to inspect the stuff in person, box it up and send to any members here (at their expense of course). It’s a whole lot of kit for $400 + whatever shipping to you is. At a guess this stuff would have costed about $1200 - $1600 when new and to buy new stuff of this quality today it would cost you about $2000+
At worst I might be keen for one of the spare needle’s
Damn that’s nice, I’m waiting for the parentals to get back from Os to see if he still has his mordaunt short amp I found the speakers just need the amp and to get a nice turn table.
My old technics belt drive probably won’t cut it
^ Is that the Marantz pm50? I had a Pm30 for ages and it was really nice. It was only around 30 or 40 watts per channel but sounded really great. I only got rid of it because the phono channel started bugging out.
I replaced it with a Yamaha A-S300 which is pretty good for a low budget stereo amp but I don’t think it sounds as nice
