2014 WorldTour thread.

Contador is just so friggin great. Froome placed one of his attacks 4ks from the finish, Conty held on then left him behind to win. Just perfect.

He broke his tibia, much better than breaking a femur in terms of recovery. And no amount of clenbuterol will make his leg better or fix it quicker, if that’s what you’re pointing at.

Fast climb fast analysis Vuelta Stage 16 - veloclinic

dunno if you really need a graph to see that, when they kicked they left everyone else in their wake.

The only person who gave a shit about wattage up that climb was froome

If I had the time, I’d rearrange this graph into the shape of a fingerbang.

SPANISH POLICEMAN KILLED DURING STAGE 16 OF VUELTA A ESPAÑA

by Shane Stokes

Tragedy struck the Vuelta a España on Monday when a member of the Spanish Guardia Civil police lost his life while ensuring a safe passage for the riders taking part in stage 16.

According to the Asturian newspaper “El Comercio,” the officer, who has not been named at this point, crashed at approximately 15.30 Spanish time while driving ahead of the race on his motorbike.

The accident happened on the AS-228 road. The officer lost control of his motorbike and struck a guardrail. The father of three was killed from the impact, with his body later being transported by helicopter to hospital. He had been working to ensure the roads were clear ahead of the riders.

CyclingTips expresses sympathy to his family, friends and colleagues.

“Not pictured: Watts or Froome”

Did laugh.

^ ohhh man, that sucks. i saw the ambulance going through the entire race last night and thought “that’s weird, what the hell is going on?”, then when they had to go round the big police presence on the left hand side of the road later you could tell something was up.

that’s a total bummer.

haha, i didnt see that bit until you mentioned it

yeh the red text was a mistake with the benefit of hindsight.

Watching last night’s stage reminded me of those real banger stages from the 90s and early 2000s

pre SRM you mean? Yeh me too.

Yep. The good old days when dudes just let their legs and the elephant juice coursing through their veins do the talking.

^ Apparently, no elephant juice for this year’s TdF riders
