English as She Is Spoke

I have a terrible diet. My doctor told me I might die of betes.

I can expect it to be really painful for Polar to issue a check out to their arc-enemies

This thread seems to be in it’s death throws

Give it a chance. From time to time it becomes quite tropical

Just realised the woman in front of me at work says “pacific” instead of “specific”.
“Yes sir, is there anything pacific you’re looking for?”

I chuckled and thought about this thread.

Colleague says “clear as mud” when she means the opposite.

eg: i’ve put these procedures together, I think they’re quite good, should be clear as mud.

Tropical:

s/genuinely/generally

“you can tell by her follow-up’s that she generally cares about her clients”

my old neighbour says veet-ma-knees people come from china, probably.

not even ahn do could make that one up

my wife say ‘beautifullest’.
my daughter says ‘ambleance’.
i say ‘did you even go to school?’.

my 6yo girls says something similar, she says ‘vet-ameez’

an old work colleague used to say ‘irregardless’. technically not wrong, but still made me cringe and snicker to myself.
veet-ma-knees empathiser also says ‘pacific’ when she wants to narrow her focus. i remember her “pacifically” telling her teenage son “exactly what brand to buy” on a regular basis.
brought/bought and bring/brang/brung is also fun.

aks.

Had an HR manager with a very troublesome relationship with the word ‘ask’ - sad, considering her job was mainly to aks people to do things.

Got this sent through from a transcription service today:

Mal Brough - statement to parliament - 2/12/15

Yesterday during Question Time I said, “In relation to sdhikt minutes interview, what was put to air was not the full question.” My recollection of the interview was the question was put to me in a smos disjointed man dispr I answered the division without clarifying precisely what part of the question I was responding to

I apologise to the House if my statement yesterday unwittingly added to the confusion rather than clarifying the matter.
