It is winter, I'm sick of wet feet. Which shoe covers?

Dry an visible with no dignity tho Pete.

Please don’t rain on his parade HMC.

Dignity’s not really my thing.

I have the rapha pro team overshoes and have been happy with them. Like everything except probably velotoze, you get wet eventually.

I just stopped riding in the rain tho. Dry shoes all the time.

Having intermittent hassles clipping in to the clipless with my covers on

Someone give these a try.

None of these look like they will stop water running down my legs and straight into my shoes (except maybe those carradice monstrosities). But they do look like they might keep my wet feet a bit warmer.

Clingwrap actually sounding like the best option.

The pros use cling wrap and duct tape around the top with their Lycra boots over for extra contract points.

Winter will be over by the time they make it here

Giving Velotoze a whirl this winter

I commute in Privateers, so not really velotoze friendly. Luckily my 43 shoe size sits on the smaller end of Velotozes Large size (43-46) so its not ridiculously tight. Also means i can spread the velotoze cleat/heal hole around the edge of the privateers, no need to trim.

Still fairly snug around the shoe, and snug against my skin so rain run off should be minimal

Will see how they go

Can confirm, velotoze work.

First 25 mins of constant drizzle and wet roads, so plenty of splash. Then the last 10 mins of actual rain rain.

From the ankle to my toes, feet/shoes stayed dry. The top part of my socks got a little damp, not much at all.

Slight difficulty in getting them on/taking off is totally worth the benefits of dry feet.

$23 from bikebug with free shipping, no brainer imo

$110 worth of “waterproof and breathable booties” for $25 shipped.

Looks like pushys is finally stocking the MTB version veltoze.

I got some Sealskinz Oversocks. I haven’t needed to use them yet, but I’ve tried them on and they seem pretty great

The short version velotoze are comparatively quite easy to get on as opposed to the long version (just slip straight on over your shoes like more traditional covers) and only sacrifice shin/long sock coverage. I’ve also peeled them back half way down my shoes at times if things dry and warm up mid ride. For commuting they’re definitely the better option

I bought winter shoes this year. Slightly slower to put on than the normal commuter shoes but dry when it’s wet.

After all this discussion, I just stuff my shoes with newspaper.
Shoe covers were just annoying in general, particularly removal. I have a feeling my US13 foot makes life more difficult due to being at the end of the sizing spectrum.
Replace the newspaper just before lunch and by the time I’m ready to go home, shoes are basically dry.

Maiden roll in the wet with the MTB Velotoze today, can confirm awesome. They definitely feel more durable/thicker around the bottom edge, also easier i feel to slip on with the bigger gap in the sole.

had my first wet ride with mine on the weekend, first time ive not felt the water slowly running down the socks and into the shoes

A+++ would buy again. Very cheap too!
