Shoesies - MTB. Need input

Dunno that much about them, but some of those Ritchey SPD pedals on Pushys look pretty reasonable eh. I’d get some of those Shimano or Mavic shoes at the $75 mark over the Tevas you linked to too. Those Giros are rad though. I’d really like some for touring.

rumbles look like more of a commuting/touring shoe though?

i should probably admit id like to stick closer to the $50 mark as also chasing a decent pair of shorts (with padding i guess)

those mavic cruises dont look half bad actually.

unless you are doing crazy k’s a normal pair of shorts (slightly looser fitting is better than super skinny) will do.

or if you are feeling sensitive/nervous wear normal bibs under the shorts.

at the cheap end you are either going to get something that looks like a insane fluoro explosion (that no one else will touch) or something not very functional/comfortable whereas you know you have bibs you like and im sure you have shorts living in perth ;).

Jase I wouldn’t go for these Tevas if you’re doing trail. They have little to no knobblies and they wouldn’t be too good to walk with on the trails, especially if it’s a bit muddy/wet. Description says they’re SPD compatible though.

I reckon Pete is right on, go with shimano cheapies.

Re. shorts I just use my road bibs for MTB (the crappy old ones)

cheers boys, i do indeed have some older bibs i can wear under regular shorts, so will probably give that a whirl. See how i go, and yeh, i dont expect to be doing big kms either!

Spotted this on BNA, think its a good start.

Jase snagging bargains since forever.

If you feel like getting some MTB shorts with knicks liners, I’ve always been happy with the Pearl Izumi Canyon shorts.

No bright fluoro to worry about.

i do like PI gear, cheers.

On its way, and i think i found some 520s in my parts bin, needs a bit of a clean up though

edit found the 520s, soaking in some kero at the moment. Will then hit it with some steel wool and give the springs a bit of oil.

Pushys got an extra 10% off all GIRO, privateers, carbides, rumbles etc.

FYI, they are cheaper from a few LBSs on bicycle exchange

true! but looks like sizing is limited. Same as pushys i guess.

Evans has privateers at $120 posted if anyone is needin a pair, i know how much FOA like their privateers. No half sizes though

I need some CX shoes - what’s hot?

I have a pair of Shimano M088s which died in under a year, coming apart at one of the seams on the top. Shit stitching.

I have some Mavic Fury’s in 44 that i wanna offload? Used but hardly.

Privateers?

Can’t fault my Privateers. Only issue was the buckle broke on one shoe, but easily replaced.

I like my mavics for CX, deep tread and tall studs, that said only been one race where I actually needed them

Black/Yellow $s ?

All the cool kids* are using the top level shimanos (or empires).

*I’m not cool.
