This is my shed/workshop at my new place.

Pretty good, no room for bikes as I have to share with the lawnmower and some gardening things but nice to have all the tools and parts out of the house.
wow iridescent forks!

First garage I’ve had after 5 different rental properties. Nothing special at the moment.
Here’s the old workshop in Darwin:

I loved that space. It got a bit wet sometimes, and it wasn’t all that secure (although having a dog helps a lot), but it was a great place to work. To the left there is the lounge room. TV/stereo behind the bar there, along with a beer fridge. Party lights! House is above.
Current space (not really a good descritpor in this case):

Again, not that secure. Instead of being hot like in Darwin, it’s very cold and no fun at all after dark. The floor is slatted deck, so don’t drop anything! I’ve put cardboard down a bit which helps a bit. Plenty of other bits, including complete bikes, are secreted around the house; campy on the mantlepiece, rims and bars in the spare room, Bike Friday in the hallway…
Watch this space for the future:

24m2 of timber clad glory, coming by the end of the month!
The Team Swuzz compound has relocated from this

Build was supposed to start on the 27th of November, but can you see y neighbour’s shed leaning into my block? It leans in 250mm and I need to build to 150mm of the boundary. He’s being a shit about it, and if I want him to move it, I have to get all legal on him. Too soul destroying. So I have to apply for a new dispensation - the last one took 3 months - to build my building 300mm in from the boundary instead of 150mm. That’s 15cm. That’s bugger all.
Shit.
So bummed. The new build date is mid January. Better than mid Feb I guess…
Given you can cut off overhanging tree branches from your neighbours and throw them back, offer to saw off the overhanging section of his shed and do the same?
Pain when you have stupid neighbours!
^^ I know neighbour wars are best avoided, but you really should get all legal on him and get his shed moved. Perhaps offer to pay for some/all of the work?
Or, if you don’t want to go down that route, charge him rent for occupying your property. It only needs to be a nominal charge (like $1 a year), but it will avoid him having a claim for adverse posession down the track…if he doesn’t already, that shed has probably been like that for quite some time.
Push on it really hard till it leans the other way
Get it condemned?
There are a few options like this, but they all take time and money, and are distinctly soul destroying. It’ll get demolished in a year or so, but I can’t wait til then.
D) all of the above
Get legal on him and get an order for costs. That way he pays for being a stubborn ass.
Be a wog for a day: burn it !!
This was my first thought. Start the Weber next to it an accidentally burn it down.
Preferably when the neighbours are away.
Or put some dope plants in it and call the cops.
Tried all of the above. It’s his property, so I can’t cut it. Condemnation won’t get things happening any quicker. I’ve tried the push thing; it won’t budge. There’s nothing I can use to mechanically push it. I could mechanically pull it, but I’d have to go onto his property for that. That’s what I suggested to him, to which he responded that I was being simplistic and dangerous. He’s a builder.
Getting all legal is too hard. It’s will cost more, it will take more time, it won’t help our relationship, and it will not achieve anything before it gets demolished in a year or so anyway. Once condemned, he’d still need to apply for demolition permits and all that stuff.
I’m reconciling with the new plan, but it’s still shit.
Put Rolo’s head through it.
Couple of sheets of form ply to spread the load and a low range equipped Landy?
An old GF is 350k in the hole with legal fees for being < 300mm on her neighbours side when a developer bought the block and sub divided. She had a survey done before building too but the guy stuffed it and didn’t register it or something.
You gotta fight for your right to party…
He’s a pretty shit builder if he can’t think of ways to fix it.
Just find your own dodgy builder who will build the proposed shed 300mm from the boundary, certifier probably wont notice, or lodge a Section 96 variation afterwards, say the neighbours shed leant more during construction, etc.
