SS CX - options?

^ cheers mate, i need a 52 going by their geo though =( Shipping is $60 to perth so it aint that bad.

w’happen to the giant?

long story short, found a crack in my zipps, decided i wanted to get it rebuild with new set of T11s/CX Rays etc, needed cash, sold the Giant, realised i didnt want to invest so much into the wheels and decided to cut my losses instead. Sold the wheels, bought some F1s instead for the roadie, and now have about $1500 to spend on a commuter and keen to pick up/build another SS disc

Even at $1k i could buy some TRP spyres and a set of rival 22 cranks and id be well under $1500, not sure what other options at that price point?

still waiting on a reply from curve about the grovel.

I don’t know about State’s manufacturing but I do think that bike looks awesome. It’s a shame the Aus distro doesn’t do their kits.

They do a rear derailleur hanger for the SSCX bikes so you can go 1x if you ever decide to.

https://www.statebicycle.com/collections/miscellaneous-parts/products/sscx-derailleur-hanger

Curve only has one grovel left (XL).

dont think they will be remaking it in its current form. word is the new/next frame will be more touring focussed with better fender mounts and a longer wheelbase. not sure when they might arrive though.

How do you use those brakes in the drops?

I’ve got my bars and shifters set at similar angle. You can get one or two fingers on the bottom of the levers, which is all you need when pulling them from the bottom

^ I think your shifters are angled a little better than this. This angle would not only make it hard to brake in the drops, but would also be really painful for your wrists on a long ride.

that state thing looks sick.

Should offload my colossi trip tri lol

bike comes with a hanger, it runs an eccentric BB

cheers for the heads up niK

Looks like just to decide the colour, not sure the pink is me.

Dont mind the white, and im only a rattle can away from my matte black anyway

you’ve got this tattooed somewhere, don’t you?

that state sscx does look rad, if I could find something with sliding rear dropouts I’d get super excited!

Bingo.

If the state uses a good EBB (expanding wedge/clamp rather than grub screws) I’d be just as happy with that as sliding dropouts.

Both have disadvantages and need maintenance.

pretty sure its grub screws, at the end of the day it dosnt claim to be anything more than it is.

Considering it will only be a commuter for me is there anything that would be be better in terms of bang for buck?

Probs a Giant TCX with a magic ratio.

or a defy disc aye? =P

but neither would be $1k off the shelf now would it =D

what’s the go with sliding dropouts?

They can slip or bolts seize etc. nothing major. Just like having to grease any ebb.

I kinda like the state and its decent value.

Bombtrasck Arise looks like a pretty rad (and well priced) option for a sscx with cantis - horizontal drop outs have been changed this year it seems to sliding with a hanger for future 1x10 options…
