Rode into work today which was my first proper ride following my meeting with Derby gravel. Took it slow and had to be careful, but the SJ is I made it without anything hurting and it’s a big step towards making a full recovery.

Since then I’ve seen so many posts about people stacking it at Derby, all on that track
So many people binning it of late here in Canberra too – new people to MTB on pretty good bikes thinking that their suspension will soak up everything.
It does take time to get to learn how the bikes behave and grip in different conditions and years to dial in an eye to assess surfaces and pick lines quickly.
Glad to hear you’re on the mend Pinzo. Every now and then I think, yeah, mountain bikes, Harcourt isn’t far away, looks fun. Then I remember I’m old and unco and don’t like crashing.
got pretty close to eating shit the other day on the gravel descent of Arthurs, got real loose and off camber. Didn’t die, feelsgoodman.

My 16yo nephew sent me a video of him smashing that trail. Cheeky little shit.

Walking on my street (Fitzroy) and randomly noticed an otherwise non-descript rain soaked torn rectangular box in the nature strip with “GXR Seek w/ axle” and “Saint Cloud” hand-written on it with a sharpy. I thought hmm, sounds familiar. I picked it up to chuck in the recycling. Inside were some Curve GXR carbon forks (they aint cheap!).
I emailed the dudes at Saint Cloud asking if the forks were missing. Phone rings shortly afterward and it turns out the box was stolen from a Saint Cloud staff member while having a beer at a local pub last night. Thief must have chucked them in the bushes thinking they were useless. Forks collected tonight, dude super stoked, shouted me a beer. Joys all round.

After riding it for 6 years with a decent dent in the top tube - it surprisingly crimped at a different part of the top tube in this collision (and a ripple inn the down tube).
Very sad to see this frame go 
Was that at North Sydney? I heard of someone stacking it down that way yesterday morning.
NSJ: blown turbo on car, may have gone into engine, RIP VW.
SJ: bought a pretty nice late 80’s steel frame to offset my pain.

@familyguy was in the evening on the rocks side of the bridge - and no one around to see us collide so must have been another instance! Very glad we both got up and went our seperate ways unscathed (given I’m a few weeks out from my wedding…)
