The small joys today thread (a bit of Yang for FoA Yin of late)

Sad news, good that you’re unscathed. What size do you ride?

NSJ: Stung by a bee under my helmet
SJ1: was less than a km from home
SJ2: no reaction to bee sting, apart from a bit of a lumpy head

NSJ: tore my velotoze taking them off after the wet commute this morning.
SJ: LBS had them on sale for $10 a pair becuase it technically isn’t winter yet. Score.

SJ: keeping an eye on a young school kid about to cross the road on his MTB and then seeing him in the rear view mirror popping a wheelie right the way across.

Small joy: super quiet riding around the Nongs this morning. Hardly a car seen and surprisingly few bikes too.

i had them all hidden in my coles bag.

Managed an hour on the rollers. Didn’t get too bored, didn’t fall off, didn’t get a numb taint. Bonuses! Bonii?

Sent a colleague an email to let him know that a joke he made in a work whatsapp group was sexist towards women & made me uncomfortable.

he called me about it & we talked it out.

he emailed the entire team & apologised.

SJ - Logging into FOA for the first time in a long time and seeing so many familiar faces and good vibes all round.

Also just packed my coffee gear on my bike to join in the canberra coffee outside crew tomorrow.

SJ: Sold my last fixed gear bike.

NSJ: Sold my last fixed gear bike.

Bought it for $100 in 2010ish and had rebuilt in countless different ways. Kind of glad to see it go as 11 years is a long time to keep a bike that was way too small.

SJ2: Record low bike ownership!

SJ: Got shortlisted for the role I’ve been doing on contract for the past 2+ years. I’d like to think I’m a shoo-in but it’s nervewracking nonetheless

NSJ: Having a really shit week at the office, tasked with picking up the slack from others who are grossly underqualified for their jobs.

SJ: Suddenly remembering that time PM Berlusconi tried to spook PM Merkel by jumping out from behind a pillar. Oh, and recently started dating a really cool chick.

SJ: Sold a helmet to a guy who invited me to join their saturday regular group rides. This was october last year and ive been riding with them pretty much every weekend since, jersey and all. Have really enjoyed riding in a bigger group having ridden so many years solo, or usually with one other mate.

SJ2: have also felt my riding has leveled up, with regular rolling turns, ‘sprint’ sections and having goes pulling up front.
