The 'what you've done to your bike today' thread

i’ve heard autosol is a good bearing race cleaner-upper too…

…or was it chalk?

CRC have 9spd shadow XT mechs in medium cage for ~$60 and maybe a profiled ring could be a good comprimise?

oh (and in the last fee days) built new wheels, DA 7700->A23’s with DT revs.
Fitted 11spd chorus levers, new front mech, new chain and chain ring to my CX bike.

Then discovered an issue with the LH ergo, bah.

Have you tried a Race Face narrow wide chainring?
Wiggle have them for $50+. I have one on my 1x9 29er with no front tension device and yet to drop the chain.

Shadow =/= Shadow+ though. No clutch for 9sp.

Your new-old ergo? humbug. Get Asher to rebuild it for you!

Yeah I know, it was a budget option, but a new 9spd Shadow XT Med cage have better tension than an old long cage.

And yeah, contacted the oracle for advice, bought a little plastic bit for $20. Should be fine to fit myself.

Also, this happened whilst riding past St Ali north this morning, it was a slow comical droop rather than a spectacular fail. Held it together with bungees for the rest of the day.

Fixed with double struts, much better.

I decided I’ve been working hard, I’m heading down to Melbourne for the day, weather is perfect. Got my friend’s car pass for Exhibition St so parked the car then head down to Rockit for a haircut then ride out to South Yarra, discuss a new set of wheels with Dan, have a look in at Mal’s then ride out to a friend’s place in Vermont, return tomorrow.

So the day started like this Yayyyyyy!!!

Then riding back up to the carpark to put my Rockit tshirt in the car, a piece of tissue paper blew across the road into my cassette followed by a loud bang as the derailleur disintegrated bending the hanger. So the day desceneded into this Booooooooo!!

Fortunately just around the corner from the car, went and put remains of bike in car and made my way over to Shifterbikes so the day ended like this. Booooooo!!!

Now at home about to see how much this fuc…ng evolution is going to cost me. New Chorus derailleur here we come

fixies bro, way simples.

Wat??
This sucks! Was it ‘tissue paper’ or more thick ‘newspaper’. Good to see Dan working his magic.

IGH bro, simples like fyxo, gears like beardo*

*practically guaranteed to suffer a horrendous mechanical on the way home now as i’m riding full derailleur setup (with fenders for extra things to go wrong)

It was abit hard to tell the thickness of the paper but seemed just like tissue paper. It was certainly bizarre but anyway, I didn’t end up thrown off the bike and into traffic so not all bad. Will strip it down and now up to the Gong to Tarn and we can have a look to see where she is at. Dan is a superstar. Busiest man around and still popped it into the stand to check the frame out. I nearly didn’t come down to Melbs today and was going to do a Hepburn loop. Oh well, I do have an outstanding haircut!

I’m back on the Primate SSCX tomorrow!

Started putting this together…

Massachusetts Project 2 - Electric Boogaloo

Don’t think SugarKanye would like the finished weight of mine…

nice dubs! what bars are they?

3T ErgoNova LTD currently on sale at Wiggle ordered Friday night arrived Monday Morn…

some more creaks and squeals so thought id take out the BB and use the copper grease i bought, but after only 2000kms the adapter finally let go inside my BB30 shell while trying to take out the bb CUP, so stripped it down and taking it back to the shop. Will probably go the praxis route now

Ergonova’s are really comfy (even my cheapy alloy ones) and Wiggle are on point with the postage ATM

What is it with this?
Having never owned a BB30 crankset/frame it just seems like a massive pain in the arse.

i think its more to do with the adapter im running in the BB30 rather then the BB30 system itself, must’ve started to sleep, hence the creaks.
