The 'what you've done to your bike today' thread

I know this message is not relevant to me, but it reminded me that the bike I posted earlier was the one I ended up riding to my wedding on…

dreaded creakin/clickin started.

checked seat post, still creaking

took regreased cranks/bb, still creaking

checked chainring bolts, still creaking.

checked pedals, took apart, greased and tightened them a tad more, seems to have done the job for now…

If not grease your skewers

wheels were next on the list if it was still makin noises, funny how it always sounds like its comin from the BB!

Seconding skewers. It’s amazing what dry skewer creaking manifests into in your head.

Graduated to a 110mm stem on my Bridgestone.

Been fighting creaking lately and have never heard of this so about to do it BUT had a quick google and got all sort of inter web gibberish shit arguing and crap SO can someone shoot me a hint on how/what to go about this with please. I have good quality waterproof grease, singer white oil, rock n roll lube and some teflon dry lube at my disposal…. do I put it on the the skewer + threads, just threads or what? Cheers

Put it on everywhere where metal touches metal  I just use my normal waterproof grease.

do you have pedal washers? you run sram right? if you have no pedal washers you’ll probably have a bad time.

ftfy. weight weenie skewers are straight up the worst.

Flipped the stem and raised the bars on the MTB

Had a bike fit that determined I have a long torso and need a 130mm stem. Pretty fucking psyched - never had any part of me described as long before.
So I put a 130 on my bike today.

So pro! I have had similar luck with my bike fit, advised to ride a 140… here I was thinking that the 130 I had one was long enough. I guess it depends on saddle to bar drop and all that jazz also though.

EDIT: photo of your bike with stem needed!

Chucked some XT pedals and new grips on the camber. Still getting used to this beast!

I am actually built like a T-rex. My torso is not actually long, it just appears long when compared to my arms and legs. :frowning:

Those cyan grips suit that well. Thanks for the pedal of that the other day, you’re right it’s a beast and looks like it’s been getting some mileage.

not oiled my chain. Yup, I’m “that guy” today.

brought the Blundy home today. now to decide what to do with it.

Yeah the ride was a blast! That was the last ride of 2013 for me and I felt it was a perfect send off to the year. Hopefully when you come down next we can go for an XC ride or explore some other trails - and get some more coffee.

Yes to all of the above, can you guarantee no magpies?
