New tyres, new hoods, new brake pads. Good 650bx42 tyres that aren’t Runny Arse or Grand Bois are getting harder to come by.
Ditched my track wheels and embraced singlespeed life, and it is pretty sweet.
Still need to fit rear brake and get some cable guides because errrr someone angleground them off along with the derailleur hanger for the sweet fixie look. #noregrets
Your knees thank you.
Built it.
Missed out on this frame late last year, fast forward 9 months and it popped back up so i nabbed it. I already had all the parts in my parts bin, just needed a frameset.
Geo is a tad small for a usual ‘medium’, so still playing with stem set up before i chop.
*edit…chopped.

picked up some rigid 26er forks for the avanti and sprayed them black.
going for a full rigid drop bar ss build.
Thoughts? Pretty smooth hey.
Have only had the maiden run Sunday, but pretty happy so far.
And yeh, smoooth. extra gearing was also welcomed.
I found a nearly complete Norco roadie in hard rubbish last week. ~2018, looks to be the last year before they went to discs. Stripped the busted Sora off it, then it looked like this.
Because of reasons I have shitloads of parts, so I thought I’d see if I could build this up without spending anything. I nearly got there too, only had to buy an outer gear cable cos it needs a full run.
It looks like this now
It’s now got a 6800 group, fulcrum 3s, parts bin everything else.
It has 57mm- reach brakes, so fits 30mm tyres with room to spare (not enough for mudguards tho, I already tried…)
Think this might be my new bike to chuck on the car rack for holidays.
Got some Risk di2 buttons from alix for far call.
Those top buttons are hard to find std. These give more height with a good surface area. They just locate on a pin and the hoods hold them on. Testing statically they feel heaps better. Will have a ride tomoz
Got the 1x1 back into a rideable form. The headset was shot so I chucked a new one in, new swoopy bars and boner stem, bled the brakes, put the Carradice and support on.
Really great for cruising around, popping to the shops, or whatever. So fun to ride.
Update: swapped out the 6800 group for a mixed Campagnolo group, put the carbon wheels on, messed with the bars/stem etc. Rides much nicer now, took it out for a spin yesterday and it felt really nice.
needs black hoods, fluro cages ill let slide.
you find me some early campag 11 speed hoods in black and I’ll swap the grey ones out. I’m very lucky to have the grey ones (praise be to @AL9000 )
how early is early? pre 2009?
Campagnolo EC-SR500 Ultrashift Ergo Replacement Black Brake Hoods - Bikebug
$60?! that whole bike didn’t cost $60
rattle can hoods i guess
Doing Seven again this year, so gravel bike is getting an upgrade.
Actually starts off with the Allez getting a new mini groupset, got some new AXS E1 Red for it.
AXS D1 Red shifters now go to the bombtrack, picked up a mint Rival XPLR rear derailleur to pair up with, still deciding on wheels for the this one.
The Rival 1 group and fulcrum wheels off the Bombtrack now goes to the SBC Thunderbird, an upgrade from its single speed set up that ive been running during winter. This will be the gravel training bike / wet weather commuter. Need a second 11- 42 cassette so i can just switch wheelsets rather than changing tyres each time
Ended up going the Zipps.
Rattlecan paintjob was fun, not perfect but im not overly fussed as its for gravel anyway.
